Good morning Listers, I am looking for any information regarding a Thomas Butter born about 1796 in either Coupar Angus or Eassie, Perthshire, Scotland. At a later date Thomas Butter was living and working in Kirriemuir, Angus and fathered a son (Alexander Butter 1836-1905) with Helen Gall also originally from Eassie, Perthshire. The son, Alexander Butter and his mother, Helen Gall both lived, died and are buried in Kirriemuir, Angus Scotland. I have to date not been able to obtain any further information regarding Thomas Butter, his background, death or burial, etc. Any local Kirriemuir assistance greatly appreciated. E. You didn't say where you've looked. Scotland's People seems the obvious place to look. And while it's quite cheap at about $2 a lookup, pensioners like myself can't afford to pay for others. But you might like to try the IGI first, to see if you can find a birth or marriage for Thomas. I'd also look for the family in 1841, 1851 census etc to see if Thomas was with the family or if Helen was a widow. That will narrow down the timeframe when you are looking for his death.
