That's not quite true - ScotlandsPeople has the Roman Catholic BMDs! But on the Church of Scotland records side, the IGI actually has less entries than ScotlandsPeople, as not every record has been indexed, though it does have some dissenting church records. For Church of Scotland material I've occasionally trawled through SP images and found additional children to couples not picked up by the IGI. One other point - the IGI will shortly no longer exist as a searchable database. On the new FamilySearch website it actually no longer exists. It has already been split - the extracted records have been added to the new Historical Records section, along with records from British Isles Vital Records Index, and can no longer be searched by batch number. Patron submissions to the IGI are not yet on the new site, but will be added to the Family Trees section, which at the moment also has Ancestral File records from the old site, but not Pedigree Resource Files, which will also be added in due course. The old FamilySearch is still temporarily available at www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp - but will go once the new site has corrected some appalling oversights with its new search system - more on the differences between the two sites at http://broadcast.lds.org/elearning/FHD/Local_Support/Consultant/Interactive_Guide/Adjusting_to_the_new_version.pdf Chris -------------------------------------------------- From: "Peter Booth (2)" <peterbooth2@bigpond.com> Sent: Sunday, January 16, 2011 5:47 AM To: <perthshire@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [PERTHSHIRE] TAYLOR/Davidson > Helen, > > There are no additional records on Scotland's People to those on IGI. > > I presume you obtained the mother's name from a subsequent BDM event. > You might need to check that.
