    1. [PERTH] McKERRELLs of ISLAY
    2. Clan McKerrell
    3. Apologies to those who receive this on more than one list. I'm looking for everyone who can claim a family connection to McKERRELLs on the Isle of Islay, Argyllshire, Scotland. They are widely scattered and are known to have settled at least in Canada, South Africa, East Africa, USA and Australia. The reason for the search is to invite them to the very first family reunion called "The McKerrells Return to Islay" http://clanmckerrell.50free.net/return.htm, to be held on Islay from 11 to 13 June 2004. The event is designed to be high on fun and low on formality, a chance to meet new relatives and old friends, and to find their place in the family tree. The Chieftain of the McKerrells, Charles McKerrell of Hillhouse, has expressed an interest in attending. The date was chosen to complement "Tilleadh Chlann Ile" (http://www.islayreturn.com) a family history event for subscribers to the SCT-ISLAY list that is being held on Islay from 6 to 10 June 2004. I know there are lots of Islay McKerrell descendants out there, whatever their present surname and however it is spelled. If you know of any, I'd be grateful if you can pass on to them the text of this message, or simply let me have their e-mail address.. I can be contacted at clanmckerrell@hotmail.com, or via the Islay McKerrells website at http://clanmckerrell.50free.net/return.htm. My grateful thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide. The river follows Glen Dochart. Auchlyne is a small village in Glen Dochart about 8 Km, 5 miles, south west of Killin. Kinloch Rannoch is at the east end of Loch Rannoch abour 16 Km, 10 miles, north of Killin. Ian Melbourne Yvonne Izatt wrote: > > Hello > > Could SKS help me. If you can't find your family prior to the known persons above, I suggest that you join the Islay List and try there. McNab & McDougal are very common names on Islay, and in my own family there were connections between families in Perth and Islay in the period around 1800. 2. Linda Etty
    3. Hello List, Trying desperately to sort out my ROBERTSON line from Kenmore. John ROBERTSON was born about 1774 to Donald and Mary MCLAREN in Kenmore. John Robertson married Christian AND/OR Margaret MCLAREN. He appears on the 1841 and 1851 census in Auchterarder. A daughter Mary is with him born about 1801 a widow of John MOSS a soldier. On the 1841 census is a Daniel/Donald Robertson born about 1801 and a Margaret born about 1832 in England. On the 1851 census there is a Helen Robertson born about 1838 in Coupar-Fife. I have looked at OPRs and other census' trying to find parents for these children without much luck. Would appreciate any comments on this bunch. Thank you. 2. Linda Etty
    3. Hello List, I posted this query some time ago and thought I would give it a try again. I am looking for information on the ROSE family who originated in Kingussie Inverness but lived for many years in Blair Athol. Aeneas ROSE was a piper at Blair Castle and on the 1881 census he has a servant-Jane STEWART age 20 born in Lanarkshire living with his family. Blair Castle records do not show Jane. I want to prove Jane was my great aunt. If so she would have connections to Mary MCPHEE ms STEWART born in Madderty who married Alexander MCPHEE and lived in Newtonmore/Kingussie Inverness. 1. [PERTH] BROWN- MCNAIR
    2. Hi listers Naturally I am having trouble with my Brown research and am unfortunate to have two unrelated families in the same area. The family is as follows David Brown born c 1800, Laborer in 1881 census at 333 High Street Perth. Children Thomas born c1833. 1881 census was a Jobbing Joiner at Perth. He married Dec 1858 at Blackford to a Jane (Jean) McNair born at Gargunnock 7 Feb. 1835. They had (1) David Brown born 27 Feb. 1859 at Blackford. 1881 census says he is a Tailor living at 333 High Street Perth. (2) Margaret Doig Brown born 13 Sep 1860 Perth. (2) Elizabeth Brown born 29 Oct 1864 Perth. 1881 census says the two girls were working at the Manse in Gargunnock. Hopefully my Browns are looking for me and this will make it easier. Any clues most appreciated. Janet Miller New Zealand
