    1. [PERTH] DUNCAN OF GLASGOW
    2. Mavis Elks
    3. I am trying to find the famly connection for William Duncan III, who was born in Dumfrieshire, Perth, Scotland on 19 Apr 1694, was m. 11 Feb 1722 in Orange Co., Virginia, USA, and d. Oct 1781 in Culpepper Co., Virginia. His father is said to be another William Duncan, b. 10 Jan 1659, in Perth, Scotland; m. 24 June 1682, and d. 1720 in Culpepper, Culpepper Co, Virginia, USA. Researchers I have heard from negate the relationship to the Rev Wm Duncan who was a minister in Glasgow but he had a grandson, William, who is believed to have died in Scotland and who I believe immigrated to the USA without leaving word or they denied him. These records have been verified in Virginia and all of us come up with the same info. Please help someone. Mavis

    3. Hi Helen. There's a Park Place in Craigie - to the south west of the old city of Perth on my map. I don't see a Park Street though. There are a number of other Park "somethings" in Perthshire, but not a Park Street, and not in Perth city. Hope this helps. 1. Re: [PERTH] perthshire areas
    2. helen, i use uk streetmap or multimap. you can choose GB place and chose village or choose street and zoom in and out. some have aerial photos for large cities with the camera button. I use the advanced for building address with town Perth. I have even put in Powrie castle, Dundee and Balruddery Farm, Inchture and written them. I then got an old map which shows that area at Tay Valley Family History Center, or the parish boundaries of Dundee at a local public library so try A K Bell in Perth or Abertay Historical. It should also give you the postal code or you can use the Royal Mail website. Mary

    1. [PERTH] William MCINTOSH of Welses, Cargill
    2. David
    3. Hello Listers, In another will I have down-loaded, this time for William MCCINTOSH, another of my GGG grandparents, it states that he resided at Welses near Burrelton in the Parish of Cargill, Perthshire. Can anyone tell me anything about Welses near Burrelton in the Parish of Cargill? I've found it on maps. I guess it is/was a farm since in the inventory of William McIntosh, who resided there and died 1862, he had cattle, horses and crops. I have very little more on him (I think his wife was Robina Swan). The deponent for the will was his son, William McIntosh, cabinet maker. Anyone else researching McIntosh in Cargill. I'd be grateful for any information. David Weymouth, Dorset

    2. David
    3. Hello Listers, I've down-loaded the will of one of my GGG grandparents, James Mellis a shoemaker, who died in 1870, and I wonder if anyone can help me with some queries. He resided in Stobhall in the Parish of Cargill. Can anyone tell me anything about Stobhall in the Parish of Cargill? Is it a house or hamlet? Does it still exist? In his will he named his wife as Margaret COLLEY. But in his inventory she is named as Margaret MCCOLLOCH. (actual quote: At the Union Bank of Scotland in Perth in name of James MELLIS deceased and Mrs Margaret McColloch or Mellis, Cargill, payable to either of them or the surviver of them £ 51/1/2) Can anyone account for her 2 names - Margaret Colley and Margaret McColloch? The next item in his inventory is another bank account, this time solely to the credit of Margaret McColloch or Mellis. Should I assume she had already died? (And he hadn't transferred the money into his name.) Or did her money belong to him in Scots law? Is any other lister researching MELLIS in Cargill? The deponent for the will was David MELLIS shoemaker, son of James MELLIS. David Weymouth, Dorset
