Also forgot to mention the possibility that it could refer to Ninewells, a neighborhood on the west side of Dundee. My gggrandfathers Will dated 1858 refered to JAMES PULLAR of NINE 0r NINO (difficult to read) WELLS . The Will of CHARLES PULLAR was written in FORDIE ,CAPUTH, so I feel tha it would be in the same area. I would very much appreciate if someone could p;lease look-up the 1851/61/71 CENSUS in that area for JAMES PULLAR In the Will CHARLES to refers to other members as My Son, but not to JAMES although JAMES age 25, was living with him in the 1841 Census. Kind regards, Margaret Simpson
Margaret, You said 1851 or earlier, so here's 1841 - 1841 census of Caputh, ED3, page 11, address is Collerfordie Pullar Charles m 65 Farmer PER Pullar James m 25 PER Pullar Elisabeth f 20 PER Bruce Isabell f 20 Female Servant PER Hope this helps. PER in the last column means born Perthshire, ages were rounded down to the nearest 5 years, so Charles would have been born Perthshire roughly 1771 to 1776. Hi Lezly Thank you so very much for your reply to my query, and the census. I was able to confirm yesterday by viewing the Will of CHARLES PULLAR that he is indeed my gggrandfather. It was sooooooo exciting !!!!!!!!! In the Will, he referred to his son JOSEPH PULLAR, Farmer of Ladenford. Also his sons ANDREW, JOHN and WILLIAM Farmers in Ashton-in-Makerfield Lancashire. My new mystery now is JAMES. He is mentioned in the Will but not referred to as son.???? Kind regards, Margaret Simpson
Good Morning everyone. Does anyone have these people in their family tree. George Mills born in 1836 in Stirling (mothers name Helen Miller and father John Mills) married Mary Clark in 1862 in Stirling. They then had Peter Mills in 1863 in Stirling, Helen Robertson Mills in 1865 in Stirling, George Augustus Mills in 1867 in Stirling, Robert Mills in 1870 in Stirling, David Malcolm Mills in Callender in 1874, William , Thomas Wildman Mills in 1874 in Callander. James Macluckie Mills in 1874 in Callander, William Mills in Callander in 1875, Edward Mills in 1877 in Callander. In 1881 lived in Callander, and then in 1891 lived in Kincardine. I don't know what happened to them after that. Does anyone else know????? Carolyn in Western Australia.
I am trying to locate death records for the above families in Crieff. I have the parish register but no deaths - I have also tried FHS Library - does anyone know whether their are any for this area or would they have been buried somewhere else. My Janet Ewan lists her birth as Fowlis. They have Fowlis east and west listed. Any idea which parish register I would order to get this birth. Any help would be appreciated. I have just really started in the Perth area and still don't have alot of knowledge about this area. Brenda Brampton, Ontario
Hi i am hoping someone might be researching mcgregors from Blackford area. I am trying to find a family with a son called Charles who was born about 1840-1841. thanks Julie
This is late in coming, sorry, but thank you all for your greatly appreciated advice and hints. This is a wonderful list. Marianne in Florida, US
Lorrie, no, Dundee directories they are not fimed. the LDS have many in salt lake, still in book form, as well as phone books and school directories.....a few can be found be found in Dundee Library but not as many as you would think. I sent them 22 I had found off the Ancestry.com and they had three. I found five in Salt Lake City, 3 in other counties, 2 Scottish Country-wide directories. That isn't much help but the directories list the people both in the business by street, then their residence by street. The Wellgate library helps where they can as does the University of Dundee, National Library of Scotland, British Library and Library of Congress (all have online catalogs and will make copies....this first link is one of my favs cuzz it is easy to find a close library with the interactive map HTH someone...sorry if it puts others to sleep! Heather Thank you very much for this information. Not sure how it ties in with my lot, but it's real food for thought. My grandmother (Lizzie Ann Bruce INNES) was born there at Coupar Grange in 1877, but her brothers, born 1876 and 1879, were both born in Dundee. Lizzie Ann's mother was Elizabeth OGILVY so I wondered if she'd gone to Coupar Grange to be with family. Hmmm, another wee genealogical puzzle... Thanks again. Lived in Callander all her life. She had a Alexander Ferguson in 1861 illegit and George Young in 1867 both in Callander and both illegit. She then married and had Catherine Mills in 1871 John Mills in 1872 Janet Mills in 1875 Robert Mills in 1877 Annie Mills in 1879 Helen Miller Mills in 1881 and William Mills in 1883. All the children were either born in Port of Monteith or Kincardine (Thornhill) Robert died in 1898 in Thornhill Perthshire aged 54. His parents were John Mills and Helen Miller. Does anyone have anything to do with anyone of these families? I would love to hear from you. Carolyn in Western Australia
Coupar Grange is in the parish of Bendochy. During the 19th century, I think it belonged to the Playfair family and then to Broun Morison. Forfar Library holds microfilm of lots of newspaper cuttings. If you look it up in Google, you can find out what they have. I don't know if they will look things up for you, but you can always ask. Doreen Cuthbert
I have a John Stewart who was married to a ? Ferguson. To them was born at least a son, James Stewart in about 1806 at Dowally (or Logeriat), Perthshire. On Aug 20, 1829 James married Isobel Keay at Caputh, Perthshire. Isobel died Dec 25, 1866 on the Drum of Kincairney in Caputh parish. James died Nov 01, 1878 at Blairgowrie. James & Isobel were my great great grandparents. I'm very interested in finding anyone who may know something of the ? Ferguson noted above. If you are related to any of the above, I'd be thrilled to hear from you. Richard Ball Canby, Oregon, USA rxfball@cs.com

Hello Dorothy I have the 1851 Census Index for Bendochy and there is only one Ogilvie mentioned. Ogilvie John aged 15 born Blairgowrie, Perth Book 3 Schedule In the memorial Inscriptions that I have (edited by a distant cousin, found through family history - Margaret Laing) 19th Row 20th Row STEWART/OGILVIE 1863 1848 1873 1876 Erected in memory of Charles Stewart farmer Mayriggs who died on 18th. August 1863 aged 67 years. Charles Stewart son of the above who died on 12th. May 1848 aged 6 years and is interred at Monikie. Grace Stewart wife of Thomas Ogilvie forester Coupar Grange who died on 29th March 1873 aged 33 years. 2nd Row STEURT 1770 1773 Erected in memory of Thos Steuart lawful son to William Steuart and Jean Soutar in Coupar Grang (sic) who died the 8th May 1770 aged 3 years. There are various inscriptions for families at Coupar Grange so it must have been a small village. Hope that this may be of some help. Heather J
I'm looking for OGILVY family connections in Coupar Grange from about 1850 - 1900, but don't know whether it was in Coupar Angus or Bendochy. Please can anyone tell me? Thanks.
