Jane, Does it not actually say 'Steuart'? I've seen a 't' looking like a 'd' before. This spelling was a less common variant of Stewart & Stuart but can be found in the likes of economist Sir James Steuart (1713-1780), the Steurat family of Ballechin (descendants of an illegitimate son of James II of Scotland) or today in the Steuart-Fothringham family of Murthly Castle. Hi Jane: Well, it could be worse. My Stewarts, from Weem and Lawers, went through a century where they called themselves McCombich (various spellings) which means "companions". Hello Heather J.: Would you please look for: Pringle, James and Helen and William. Also: Stuart, James and Jane Gilruth and Jane Smart and James. Thank you. Bob Ellis, Guelph.
Hi Heather, I'm not sure how much info the indices to the 1851 census contain, but I'd be very grateful for anything you can find about Peter STEWART aged about 36 and his wife Mary; Andrew SCOTT aged between 60 and 70 and his wife Margaret; James TAYLOR aged about 52 and his wife Catherine. All, I believe, of Little Dunkeld. Thanks, All the best to you and yours, Jim Fowler Gateshead UK

Does anyone on the list have the above census for Collace? I would appreciate a look up for Alexander and Janet (Jessie) MCLAREN and family. They also had 4 grown sons who were married. Alexander (Jr.) who married a Jane ? , John married Elizabeth and William the oldest may not have married or did not live beyond infancy. Any help would be welcome. Regards, Margaret in Oregon
Hello Heather, Thank you for the generous offer. I would be most interested in any TAINSH family members in Auchterarder, particularly Jane/Jean TAINSH age about 20. Her parents were Andrew and Jean TAINSH. Her older siblings were Lilias, David, John and Isabella (who married William HUTTON in 1845). Good Morning All: I would like to post my interest in James CAMERON, born abt. 1787 - Perthshire, Scotland. My details are very limited but I believe his wife's name may have been Helen DRON, born abt. 1781, Perthshire. All I have right now is a burial location here in Canada for these two people, which gives the above information. Any connections? - Joy in Canada _________________________________________________________________ MSN Premium helps eliminate e-mail viruses. I am interested in the Stewarts also, this is how they connect with my tree: John Stewart, estimated birth around 1770 m. Janet Coupar on 4 Sept 1792, Dunkeld, Perth, Scotland. Their daughter Isabella Stewart, b. 28 January 1797, Dunkeld, Perth, Scotland is my 3rd ggmother. Isabella married Peter Low and had eight children. I believe John Stewart and Janet Coupar had several children, however I have not verified this. If anyone connects, I would be very interested in knowing more about the Stewarts, particularly any other siblings of Isabella and their familes. Laurel O'Donnell
Hi there I am back on the last after some time, and I'm starting again on my STEWART and SHEPHERD links in the Perth areas. I am looking in particular for any information on Isabella STEWART born approximately 1910 in Perth. She had a son in 1930, Donald Scott Stewart Shepherd when she was unmarried, and later married William Young Sinclair Shepherd. They had 2 more sons, William & Stewart. Isabella was charwoman, and died in the 1980's. Unfortunately, I know nothing more about Isabella or her family. If these names ring any bells for anyone, I'd appreciate some ideas Thanks & regards Tracy in Cape Town
I have a James Stewart (b 1805 or 1806 at Dowally, Perthshire) who on Aug 20, 1829 at Caputh married Isobel Keay (b 1800 at Caputh). To them were born the following children: Janet Fenwick (my g grandmother) b 2/12/1830, Charles b 4/3/1832, Isabella b 2/8/1834, John b 12/19/1836, Alexander b 12/21/1838, & James Mitchell b 12/27/1842. All the children were born at Caputh. On 8/6/1858 my g grandmother, Janet Fenwick Stewart, married John Alexander Stewart at the Drum of Kincairney in Caputh parish. John was born 2/14/1824 at Dowally/Logierait. John & Janet had the following children: Jane b 11/21/1858, Isabella b 10/31/1860, James b 4/18/1862, Elizabeth Murray b 2/4/1864, Daniel b 3/14/1866, Euphemia McNaughton b 6/9/1868, Janet Keay b 6/9/1868, Joanna (my grandmother) b 5/12/1870, John b 9/18/1872, & Charles Alexander b 7/22/1876. All but the last child were born at Craigend or Riechip in Clunie parish. The last child, Charles, was born at Aulich in Fortingall parish. In 1882 the family emigrated to America and settled near The Dalles, Oregon, USA. I'm 58 and a retired teacher residing near Portland, Oregon. I'd be thrilled to hear from anyone who may be related to any of the above.
