    3. Thank you one and all for the ineresting e-mails re the above. Seems that my gggrandparents, John and Mary Watterson, and my 3 x ggrandmother, Elizabeth Wilkie, who emigrated to New Zealand arriving here 17 March 1841 from Perth, may be responsible for the appearance of hammer toes in some members of my family. 3. Kaye Torwood is in Birnam, Little Dunkeld Parish, I have the Memorial Inscriptions for that parish and there are a fair number of stones have Torwwod listed on them. If you go to the old maps web site and put in Perthshire then Birnam and then click to enlarge the map, Torwood is pretty much in the centre although the writing is a little hard to decipher. It is to the south and slightly right of Birnam Cottage. http://www.old-maps.co.uk/oldmaps/large_ind.jsp Hope that this helps, if you want the mentions of Torwood let me know Heather J

    2. Hi Kay, as far as I know, Torwood is a house in Birnam. Birnam is just over the bridge from Dunkeld. The brother of my great grandfather, Peter Conacher and wife, Margaret Robertson lived their until his death. (1881 census). Don't have the exact dates off hand, but can probably get them for you. Regards, Dorothy (Longforgan)

    3. Dear All We've had hammertoes, bent little fingers - can I ask about hair patterns? Specifically coo's/cow's licks, where the hair in the centre of the parting springs up in the air, often to the embarassment and annoyance of the owner. I ask as it appears frequently in a strong form in our family with East coast roots. An American correspondent, a Ramsey, and her family have the same thing. Does anyone know anything about its frequency in different ethnic groups? all the best Gavin.

    3. Caroline, My maternal grandsfather was Alexander Thomson from Stirlingshire. He was brought over to Canada to instruct people in the woollen industry. The only thing I know is his name and where he was from. There were a lot of secrets in that family and we were always told it was not our business. There is no one left to ask. My mother was an only child, adopted. We actually think she was the child of her adoptive father and her aunt.Molly. After my grandmother's death, my grandfather married Molly.. My grandmother's maiden name was Maxwell. My mother was born in Halifax, N.S. and birth records were lost in the Halifax explosion. Intrique and mystery! 2. Hi everyone So that's what it is.... My Scots mother suffered from this all her life, and actually had to have several toes broken & reset. I have inherited the hammer toe problem, only not so severe, but just to make up for it, I got my father's queer toenails! 2. Hello List: I have gotten some birth information on some of the my grandfathers siblings and at least two of them were born in Bridge End Callander. I got on Google and found there is a Bridge End Farm somewhere. I have gone to Multimap but cannot at this time find anything. Can anyone help please. There were born in the 1860's and their gather was a coachman. I am slowing finding where all were born and where my great grandfather worked. It is a great puzzle. Thanks for any help. Kaye
