I have recently found a Janet MacROBIE (McRobbie, etc) on my line. Thomas SOUTAR, a merchant in Perth, married Janet MacROBIE in 1807 (his second marriage; first was Janet WHYTE). They had: James, 1808; John, 1811; Alexander, 1813. I think Janet MacROBIE was born in 1765, daughter of John McROBIE and Jannet MILLAR. A bit old, but still possible. Is anyone else researching this family? Sheila in Missouri

Hi Helen, I know that the council office in Blairgowrie deals with Caputh burials, although how far back their records go I'm not sure. The address of the office is 46 Leslie St, Blairgowrie, PH10 6AP. Phone 01250 872051. The e-mail address I have for Strathearn burials is eross@pkc.gov.uk - you can check the council directory at http://www.pkc.gov.uk/contactus/atoz/ Hope this helps, Alison Spring East Kilbride Lanarkshire Scotland Find your ancestors at www.familysearch.org =========Original Message=========== Subject: Blairgowrie cemetery Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi, Can anyone give me an e-mail address for Blairgowrie cemetery? Helen, Contact details for accessing all known Pethshire cemetery records are given at: http://external.tayvalleyfhs.org.uk/genuki/PER/cemeteries.html These do not include email however but there are some at http://www.pkc.gov.uk/contactus/atoz/bofservices.htm You want 'Burial Records (Eastern)' I would think. Note that the parish Caputh included part of the town of Dunkeld, so you may also like to consider Dunkeld Cathedral burial ground. Though no known records of any age survive for this, it is still in use. Comprehensive MIs were collected and published by Dukeld & Birnam Historical Society. Blairgowrie has the main town cemetery (opened mid 19th century) and also the older churchyard. Records for the latter do exist but are very patchy. Those for the former are quite good. ============== Grant E. L. Hi All, I am assisting a friend in the USA to search the PRs for the parishes of Dull and Fortingal. Is this the right list for that area, do the early registers, pre-1750, exist and have they been transcribed. Regards, Fred Waite, Staffordshire.

Hi, I have a brick wall and can't seem to figure out how to find my Margaret GRAY/ GREY? I know she was born 15 March 1835 but have no place. According to her obituary she came to Ontario, Canada in about 1854 on the same boat her future husband Thomas MCLAREN of Collace, Perthshire. They married in Ontario 25 Dec. 1855. They had 14 children, their oldest Alexander who was name for Thomas' father. Their second son was William. So, I'm pretty sure Margaret GRAY's father's name was William GRAY and her mother Elizabeth. Going by the Scottish naming pattern. Several of the children have middle name of GRAY or OGILVIE. OGILVIE was Thomas MCLAREN's mother maiden name Janet (jessie ) OGILVEI. One of the boy has the double middle name Blair McCarthy. That could be a clue, but so far nothing. I have looked through the IGI but, nothing seem to fit. Regards, Margaret E. in Salem, Oregon

Janet MCLAREN born 1839 Kinrossie, Perthshire Jeann MCLAREN born 1840 Kenrossie, Perthshire Margaret MCLAREN born 1842 Kenrossie, Perthshire Elizabeth MCLAREN born 1849 Kenrossie, Perthshire Anyone working on this family? Would love to hear from you. Regards, Margaret E. in Salem, Oregon
