Joan, William is a family name in my line...I have a dozen of them in my research. We proceed from Pitt County, North Carolina. William H. Perkins, born 1820 in Pitt County had six sons. Two went to Florida, one died, one went to Texas, leaving two unaccounted for. John Emmett, b Sep 1845, killed sometime around 1870 Lemuel Enoch, b Mar 1850. He went to Texas in the 1870's after killing the killer of John. He is my gg-grandfather Charles Dean Perkins, b Mar 1852. He went to Florida in the 1800's. James Perkins, b 1854/55. Edmond Latham Perkins, b 1858. William Hardison Perkins, Jr., b Jun 1850. This is the other brother that went to Florida. James and Edmond, I do not know where they went. I have seen record of a Robert E. Lee Perkins in my searches, but he does not appear to be related to me.
