Seems to me I had records of the Perkins in the MAnsfield/Coventry/Willimantic area...I'll check. Someone once sent me info on the PErkins who lived in Rt. 32...toward Willimantic...that area is now called Perkins Corners. I'll see what I can find. Have you sent to the clerk's office for a birth certificate? I'll browse at the UCONN Library too..the next time I amover there......and then there is the MAnsfield town clerk. I have yet to explore there...and the MAnsfield Historical Soc. I had a PErkins too...but Frederick was out in Litchfield..his dad Christopher was born in Torrington. we think...I was looking for a connection for him, with eastern Ct.... I am seeking the parents of Mary A, Mary Ann, not sure which is correct. One record I have states born in Hartford CT, May 19,1827. She married Sgt Thomas Spencer who according to one census was born in Warwick RI, in 1821. I know their children were born in Willimantic CT. They married in Mansfield/ Windham CT in 1845. Think that should be Windham, Windham cnty.John was their youngest son, who was my ggrandfather. They also had a son George, who I believe was the oldest child. Sgt. Thomas fought in the Civil War and was a prisoner at Andersonville. Of course he is another stone wall. With all the Spencers around, seems he should be easier to find, but....... Thanks Deb. I had been to Mansfield town hall a couple times and was trying to check out land records. I was not sure of what I was doing. The Perkins Corner area/land as the story goes, once belonged to Mary Ann's father or family. I think I read something about a Daniel Perkins having some kind of business along the river. Gosh, wish I had a better memory. I had nothing that would tie Daniel with Mary Ann, so have not gone any further with it. Lack of time, not interest has really been a problem. All my ancestors, mom and dad's were from Windham county. My mom's paternal family, the Chapman's were Old Saybrook to E. Haddam and then for some reason her father moved to Chaplin, which is where he married and my mom grew up. Her maternal side was Snow. Thomas Spencer and Mary Ann Perkins son John Spencer, married a Sheehan. John ran a business on Jackson St in Willimantic for many years. I would be grateful for any info that you may uncover. I keep promising a day or two for myself just to get to Mansfield and Chaplin to spend some time. Somehow those days never materialize. Having a large family is nice, but keeps me busy. Now come the college graduations, weddings and such. Thank you for writing.
