    3. My theory is there may be more Perkins immigrants then what has been studied or known about. There could also be name changes, adoptions, mother's remarrying a Perkins and the son takes his step father's name. My brother kit #11293 has only matched exactly with one other male that was a known descendant of William H. Perkins born 1798 in Halifax County North Carolina. There is one match on the 12 marker and that Perkins male is from Anson/Mecklenburg Counties North Carolina and they go to Tennessee. We need an upgrade to 25 or 37 (or another male from that line) to take the DNA test to see if he matches kit #11293 and the other known descendant of our line. We are Haplogroup I which is the New England line fronm Ispwich, Mass., however the connection is very far back maybe 1000 years. We did match (off by one or two markers) with Kathryn's "Norman" line of New Jersey. I have researched wills and deeds and can not connect my William H. Perkins with the known males of Halifax County, NC. Even though I have proof of his birth there. I believe William's father must have left the area and started a southward migration possibly stoping in South Carolina. Either he or my William H. Perkins was in Georgia by 1818 when William gets a draw in the Georgia Land Lottery of 1821. He lived in Twiggs, Stewart, Randolph County Georgia and maybe a short time in Bibb County (Macon). After Twiggs county believe went on over to Barbour County Alabama as a couple of his children are born there then he in Stewart County Georgia. There is a Revolutionary War soldier, John Perkins that was born around 1757? that applied for a pension in Stewart County, Georgia. His information shows him to be in Georgia prior to the birth of my William. This John Perkins is also in Crawford and Marion County Georgia per his pension application. He is deceased by 1854 when his wid! ow Nancy sends in a power of attorney for his pension. Does anyone descend from this John and Nancy Perkins? I did have a match of 36/37 with a William Perkins, b. 1738, New Haven, Conn. Now what does that mean? Possibly an adoption, change of surname or illigitimate child. This William was born about the time of our Norman progenitor (abt. 1737), however, our progenitor (Capt. John Norman) was born in Cornwall, England. > The genealogy put out there for William Perkins,b.1738, is faulty because they place William with a father who is only a few years older and siblings 30-odd years younger. Also, and this is the important thing....the DNA doesn't match this New Haven family of Timothy Perkins. > This William Perkins b.1738 is not connected to any family I can see. His Haplogroup is the same as the Mass. & New Hampshire Perkins families...yet, the markers don't match. If any one on this list knows of this gentleman I would greatly appreciate it. I found his DNA markers on an older (not the new) Perkins DNA Project which was submitted to the DNA Genealogy Mailing list a couple of months ago....so someone must know William. No one on the DNA Mailing List responded to my plea. > So, Mary Lou, take heart! You are not alone! > Peace! > Kathryn E.
