Good evening to all subscribers, my first posting on this list. On behalf of my wife, I am just starting out on researching the family tree of her paternal Grandmother, Agnes Emma PERKINS. I would obviously appreciate replies from anyone with connections to this family or PERKINS connections to the place names mentioned. I would be interested also in being referred to any relevant on line records or to any information such as relevant parish records which may have been transcribed onto floppy or compact disk. Agnes was one of 11 children born to Joseph and Fanny. The children's names were with approximate dates and locations of birth, Fanny E 1879 - Egginton in Derbyshire, Charles 1880 - Etwall in Derbyshire, Ernest 1881- Etwall, Sarah A 1883 - Etwall, Edith M 1885 - Etwall, William 1886 - Etwall, Agnes Emma 1887- Egginton, George A 1890 - Sheffield in Yorkshire, Joseph 1891 - Egginton, Lily 1895 - Sheffield and Herbert 1899 - Sheffield The family appear to have moved from rural Derbyshire into industrial Sheffield around the 1890's Agnes Emma's parents were Joseph b 1855 in Egginton and Fanny b 1857 in Egginton. In the 1901 census, the family were living on Sorby Street in Sheffield. Joseph was described as a Carter, with his own business. The family were also in Sheffield in 1891, with Joseph described as a Coal and Milk Dealer. In 1881, Joseph was lodging at North End, Wirksworth in Derbyshire, whilst his wife Fanny was at Egginton Road ( Gravel Pit ) No. 2 at Etwall in Derbyshire with her family Joseph had 2 sisters, Elizabeth b 1859 in Egginton and Mary A b 1860 in Egginton and a brother, Thomas b 1857 in Egginton. He married Elizabeth who was b 1853 in Burnaston, Derbyshire. Thomas and Elizabeth had the following children.William b 1877 in Burnaston, Thomas b 1878 in Burnaston, Alice b 1879 in Burnaston, John b 1881 in Burnaston, Elisha ( male ) b 1883 in Burnaston, Ethel b 1885 in Burnaston, Harriet b 1887 in Burnaston, Thomas b 1888 in Burnaston and Joseph b 1891 in Egginton. The parents of Joseph and Thomas were Joseph b 1831 in Egginton and Ann b 1820 in Newton, Derbyshire, who in 1881 were at Dog Kennel in Egginton. Joseph appears to be the son of Thomas and Elizabeth ( nee GRADINER ) She was b in 1800. They were both born in Egginton and were married 23 November 1827 in Egginton. I suspect that the marriage of Ann ( b 1820 ) to Joseph may have been her 2nd marriage and the name TROWELL or HOWELL may be linked somehow ! I would appreciate advice on which Family History Society to join which is relevant to the area containing Egginton, Burnaston and Etwall Roger Stevenson in Sheffield, England
