Karleene: Some of your autosomal, atDNA, and some of your X DNA, came from your mother's father, so you do have "Perkins" genes. At this point we can't be sure of which genes came from him. Personally, I think all males should test their Y DNA from their father and their mtDNA from their mother. In a few years I expect we will start testing X DNA and other autosomal DNA to get a more complete picture of our genetic inheritance.
