    2. Patricia, I'm in California but our Perkins' were between New York and Michigan and a shotgun scatter-pattern in the Midwest. To have you say some of the Perkins' were possibly mulatto really struck me. I have a couple of photos of women whom I believe are our Perkins' and I have told many cousins over the last 5 years that it appeared that some of them had lip structure consistent with Negro characteristics. Where are your Perkins' from and where were they settled? I'll share anything I have. Do you have old photos? I have only a couple with the reference. Patricia, Kevin, For several generations in North Carolina, my Perkins' ancestors were slave holders, and a few fought on the side of the South during the war of congressional agression (formerly known as the war of northern agression). The possibility of either: a) mulatto children or b) freed slaves adopting the Perkins surname is very real.
