    3. Martie, My roots are North Carolina as well. I have traced mine reliably to Lemuel Perkins, born 2 Feb, 1782 in Pitt County. Less reliably, I have his father as David Perkins, born 1733 in Beaufort County. I have David's father as James Perkins, died 1760 in Beaufort County. James' father was apparently another David, who Died in 1733. The first record of this David is as a witness to Lawrence Cruise's will on January 13, 1690 in Albemarle Co.
