    3. Did your James perkins father die in Tennessee. I have a will of James Perkins that was in Sullivan County Tennessee in 1791. I went to Sullivan County a few years ago in search of my Edward & Susannah Perkins and thought possibly that this might have been the father of Edward.. They were the only two Perkins I found there. . I believe that my Edward must have been dropped in by the stork as I am at a brick wall on his. They had several childrem , Elijah & Elizabeth (Twins born 1791 Sullivan Co, Thomas, Edmond, Eleanor, and possibly a Jane. The first five are mentioned in a will of Edward when he died in Bath County ,Ky. I hope some one out there can help me with this line ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stuart Perkins" <perkins-stuart@usa.net> To: <PERKINS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 10, 2005 5:51 AM Subject: Re: [PERKINS] Surname Interests > Martie, > > My roots are North Carolina as well. > > I have traced mine reliably to Lemuel Perkins, born 2 Feb, 1782 in Pitt County. > > Less reliably, I have his father as David Perkins, born 1733 in Beaufort County. > > I have David's father as James Perkins, died 1760 in Beaufort County. 3. Mary, I show James as died in Beaufort County, NC, 1760 and his father David (wife was Mary Walburton) as died 1733 Bath County, NC. However, I show James as having sons David (b. 1733), James, Jonathan and Edmund (or Edward). I have no dates or places with the other sons. It is likely that the founders of Bath County, Kentucky were probably from Bath County, NC, (and the founders of Bath County NC were probably from Bath, England, or the children of persons therefrom) but I have no specific information. The piece of information that I have on James (taken from the research of a now deceased cousin of mine) is: There are several land grants of 200 acres each listed for James Perkins dated1746 to 1749 all in Beaufort Co. NC. In Dec court of 1750 there is a sell of 100 acres in behalf of John Mews on the north side of Bay River on the west side of Vandemore's creek for James Perkins to Jacob Jones being 1/2 of the 200 acre grant received 13 October 1749.In his will dated March 26, 1760 he wills his land to his wife Margaret to use and enjoy in her natural lifetime so long as she remains a widow. When her children David James Jonathan and Edmund become of age she is to have an equal part with them 'I also will that my children shall be put to school an educated so as to read properly ye English tongue and write a legible hand and it may be lawful for my executors hereafter to sell of my personal estate such things as they think rest proper for the benefit of my children to pay the expense of their learning': His executors were named his wife Margaret, his brother Jonathan, and James Latham.
