    3. Having built-up a large PERKINS family tree centred around one village in north-east Somerset, England, I have accumulated a number of dead-end branches, some of which inevitably will have been emmigrants never to have been seen again in the UK. It seems to me that there are three stumbling blocks in re-uniting UK and emmigrant families. The first, for those of us whose ancestors remained in the UK, is the often large time gap in which dead-end branches could have emmigrated, presenting us with no option but impossibly long searches through whatever (usually un-indexed) sources are available to us here. The second, for those who descend from UK emmigrants, appears frequently to be that the known place of origin is at best a county name - this is particularly the case for pre-1837 emmigrants when there was no civil registration of births. The third, for all of us, is a lack of a central list of known emmigrants. So, I propose a solution. I have begun creation of a Web page of PERKINS emmigrants from the UK + Ireland. This page is to be restricted to PERKINS emmigrants proven to have been BORN in the UK + Ireland. In the first instance I will arrange the information by forename. Ancestors or descendants of these emmigrants will not be included, except in the case of a whole family emmigrating. This site is not for strays within UK + Ireland (although eventually I may expand it in that way), nor for posting queries on UK/Ireland lines that come to apparent dead-ends. No surname variants (e.g. Perkings or Perkin) have been included. The URL is; http://www.uea.ac.uk/~e850/perkins/genealgy/emgrate/em_perk.htm Look forward to your inclusions to the list.
