    1. My perkins ancestors
    2. My earliest Perkins: Henry, b. 1556, Hillmorton, Warwick, England; married Elizabeth Sawbridge, November 1579. Their son John Perkins b. 1583, Hillmorton, W., England, married Judith Gater 1608 and they and their seven children arrived Boston 1631 on the Lion. Later settled in Ipswich. Their son Jacob, b. 1624, Hillmorton, W, England, married Elizabeth Whipple, b 1620 Bocking, Essex, England. (Ipswich HIstorical Society in Ipswich, located in the Whipple House establishes Elizabeth as a Whipple, not a Lovell as is given in one source and quoted in others.) Jacob and Elizabeth's son Jacob, b. 1664 in Ipswich, Mass., married Elizabeth Sparks in Ipswich. Their son, another Jacob, married Anna Littlefield in October 1717 in Hampton Falls, Rockingham, New Hampshire. Anna is the dau of Josiah Littlefield and Lydia Masters. They resided in Wells, Maine where their daughter Anna Perkins had a son named Jesse. Jesse went by the surname Perkins, but I have not been able to identify him. Possibly Anna had Jesse out of wedlock and gave him her surname. When Jesse was nine years old, Anna Perkins married Deacon Nathaniel Taylor, who had a daughter, Eunice, from his previous marriage to Jerusha Goodwin. When grown, Jesse and Eunice, step-syblings who presumably were raised in the same household, married and had ten children. Their son, George Kames Perkins, born in Wells, Maine in 1808 (other sources give 1815, 1823) later a Presbyterian minister and a graduate of Amherst College was my 2gr grandfather. Rev. George Kames Perkins travelled to the south (Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky) establishing schools and churches, and in KY he married Elizabeth Ophelia Catherine Gray of Greensboro, KY. (She was the dau of Catherine Bird "Kitty Bird" Winn and William Gray, all of KY. ) Rev. George and Elizabeth Perkins had at least six children including my gr-grandfather Leonidas Camuel or Campbell Pekins who m. Eliza Jane "Jenny" Upton. Other ch. are Havana E. who m. David Woods in Alabama; , H. John who m. Mollie; Bertha, who m. R. S. Nunn; Mollie who m. --Carver, and Fanny who m. S. O. Nunn. My grandmother, Gail Perkins was the dau of Leonidas C. and Eliza Jane "Jenny" Upton Perkins. They lived in Illinois. Gail Perkins m. Henry Everett Warthen, son of Walter Samuel Warthen from Virginia. I'd be happy to share what I have on these Perkins. I am also particularly interested in learning about the southern Perkins - Alabama, Kenhtucky and Tennessee - who are the issue of Rev. George Perkins. Happy hunting.
