Hi All, I have learned that my ancestor John S. Perkins and his wife Mary Ellen Kyle were born in Indiana. Thanks for the suggestion to check the 1850 Census of Indiana. John S. Perkins (age 27) and his wife, Mary E. (age 20), along with children, Mary E. (age 3) and Ruben (age 1) are listed in Clark Twp., Household #89, Post Office Ladoga. I am still seeking John S. Perkins parents. John was born 14 November 1833 in Indiana, died 10 March 1909. He married Mary Ellen Kyle 14 November 1855 in Montgomery County, Indiana.
