John[1] Perkins (Henry 1) was born in Hillmorton Parish, Warwickshire, England probably December 1583 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, from his baptism; but his death record gives him as age 64 in 1654 and so b. 1590, in error). John died circa August 1654 in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts, at approximately 70 years of age (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, "Death: Ipswich '1654 aged sixty four years' between 28 March 1654 (date of will) and 26 September 1654 (probate of will)"). He married Judith Gater in Hillmorton Parish, Warwickshire, England, 9 October 1608 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, "Marriage: Hillmorton 8 October 1608 Judith Gater"). Judith was born in Hillmorton Parish, Warwickshire, England probably March 1587/1588 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, from her baptism). Judith was the daughter of Michael Gater and Isabel Bayley. John Perkins and Judith Gater had the following children: 3 i. "Quartermaster" John[2] Perkins Junior; was born in Hillmorton Parish, Warwickshire, England probably September 1609 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, from his baptism). John died 14 December 1686 in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts, at 77 years of age. He married Elizabeth --?-- (wife of John Perkins, Jr.) circa 1635 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, John Perkins' children "John.. m. by about 1636 Elizabeth _____ (eldest child b. about 1636).. Elizabeth, wife to Quartermaster John Perkins" quoting as to eldest child "Essex Institute Historical Collections" 19:255, 265- 66). Elizabeth was born est. 1615. Elizabeth died 27 September 1684 in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts, at 69 years of age (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, "Elizabeth, wife to Quartermaster John Perkins, d. Ipswich 27 September 1684"). He came to New England with the rest of the family in 1631, and removed to Ipswich in 1633. The next year he was granted lands there. He opened the first "public house" (tavern) in Ipswich. 4 ii. Elizabeth Perkins was born in Hillmorton Parish, Warwickshire, England probably March 1610/1611 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, from her baptism). Elizabeth died before September 1670 in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. She married William Sargent circa 1635 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, Perkins "Elizabeth.. m. by about 1636 William Sargent" and pg. 1632, "William Sargent.. Marriage: (1) By about 1636 Elizabeth Perkins, daughter of John Perkins"). William was born est. 1605 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol. III, pg. 1632, "Birth: By about 1611 based on estimated date of marriage"). He married Joanna Pinder in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, 18 September 1670 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol. III, pg. 1632, "Marriage.. (2) Amesbury 18 September 1670 Joanna (Pinder) Rowell"). William died circa March 1675 in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, at approximately 69 years of age (Anderson, Great Migration, vol. III, pg. 1632, "Death: Amesbury after 24 February 1673[/4].. and before 8 April 1675 (inventory)" quoting Old Norfolk Deeds as to the earlier date). His occupation was seaman. (Anderson, Great Migration, vol. III, pg. 1630) 5 iii. Mary Perkins was born in Hillmorton Parish, Warwickshire, England probably August 1615 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, from her baptism). Mary died 1700 in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, at 84 years of age. She married Thomas Bradbury circa 1635 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, "Mary.. m. by 1637 Thomas Bradbury (eldest child b. Salisbury 1 April 1637)"). Thomas was born est. 1615. Thomas died 16 March 1695 in Salisbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, at 79 years of age. She was among those accused of witchcraft during the Salem madness of 1692 and, in spite of testimony in her favor by her husband, two ministers, and over one hundred of her neighbors, was condemned. By the efforts of her friends the execution was delayed, and she was eventually discharged. 6 iv. Anne Perkins was born in Hillmorton Parish, Warwickshire, England probably August 1617 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, from her baptism). *ANCESTOR* + 7 v. Deacon Thomas Perkins was born probably April 1622 and died 7 May 1686. 8 vi. Sergeant Jacob Perkins was born in England 1624 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, from his baptism). Jacob died 29 January 1699/1700 in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts, at 75 years of age. He married twice. He married Elizabeth --?-- (wife of Jacob Perkins) before 1649 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, "Jacob.. m. (1) by 1649 Elizabeth _____ (eldest child b. 1 April 1649)" quoting "Essex Institute Historical Collections" 19:264 and "Quarterly Courts of Essex" 1:389). Elizabeth was born est. 1625. He married Damaris --?-- (widow of Nathaniel Robinson) after 12 February 1685 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, "Jacob.. m. (2) after 12 February 1685 Damaris (_____) Robinson, widow of Nathaniel Robinson" quoting Walter Godwin Davis' "Dudley Wildes Ancestry" pg. 90 with the comment "evidence not supplied"). Damaris was born est. 1630. 9 vii. Lydia Perkins was born in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts circa May 1632 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, from her baptism). Lydia died circa 1672. She married Henry Bennett circa 1650 (Anderson, Great Migration, vol III, pg. 1432, "Lydia.. m. by about 1651 Henry Bennett" quoting NEHGR 19:165-69).
