    3. We think we have located the family or our JOHN CHASE PERKINS from Oorno, ME. I appears that John Perkins and Wealthy Page Perkins were his parents. However. one list shows their John as John P. The dates match our info and the area of ME is correct but this does cast some doubt for us. Is there anyone out there who can help? The following are the children of John and Wealthy ( who may be siblings of JOHN CHASE PERKINS). Any Connections? Any family Bibles? We have service and death records. 3. I don't know if this helps or not. But this could be why yours shows up with a different initial. My ggg-grandfather was originally William C. Madden. Infact I found this to be so in the census. But after the civil war, he appeared as William A. Madden. I could not, for the life of me, figure out why. His tombstone says William A. The census records all show William A. My family states it was William C. A few days ago, the mystery was solved. Seems that the federal government screwed things up and had him down, for some reason, as William A. For him to claim his pension, he had to keep the A. So maybe this could have something to do with your John Chase Perkins as showing up John P. Perkins. Anyway, it is something to look into.
