    1. [PERKINS] PERKINS BROS. Store Chain, TX
    2. Hi all, Who were the Perkins Brothers? I am still looking for the brothers who owned, or any information about a chain of stores called "Perkin's Brothers Dry Goods" in TX. The name may have varied a bit as the years went by: "Perkin's Brothers", "Perkin's", "Perkin's Bros. Company" and "Perkin's Bros. Department Store". Kindly, a gentleman in Hunt County, TX sent me a list of related newspaper headlines. From those there appear to have been stores in Dallas, Greenville, Corpus Christi, Lone Oak, and I know there was one in Sulper Springs because my Grandmother and Grandfather worked in that one around 1910. There were also mentions of locations in "several cities". I suspect the stores began sometime in the latter 1800's. It appears the Greenville store was open into the 70's. Why? Minnie Ann PERKINS b. May 9, 1854 was my Great Great Grandmother, and she was a sibling of the Perkins Brothers. (I've been calling them the mystery brothers lately.) Little is known to me of Minnie Ann's whereabouts. What I d o know follows: On June 27, 1869 Minnie Ann Perkins m. George B. PEOPLES b. (?) d. October 3, 1874. It seems he was shot by an unknown person. I believe they may have had three or four children at the time. One was my Great Grandmother, Georgia PEOPLES who married Frank Byrdlow CASSIDY. They had seven children, the first being my Grandfather, Eugene Herbert CASSIDY b. 1889 in Windom, TX. (Later the family lived in Denison, TX) Back to Minnie Ann: On September 24, 1879 (somewhere in TX) she married Andrew GAMBILL. Sometime much later he died and a caption appeared in an unidentified paper: "Minnie Ann GAMBILL is hale, hearty and may marry again." Of course my hope is by identifying who the Perkins Brothers were, they might lead me to the other siblings, parents and location of Minnie Ann. (Then and now) Would appreciate hearing from anyone familiar with this line or these stores. Happy to share any info I have with other researchers.
