    1. [PERKINS] Veterans markers
    2. This is an edited fwd from an on-line military newsletter The Veteran's Administration will furnish grave markers for those who were U.S. military veterans, including Confederate States Army and Navy. Write to: Memorial Services > Program (403A), Dept. of Veterans Affairs, 810 Vermont Avenue, Washington, DC 20420-0001. The procedure is easy. You must supply documentation (proof of military service; pension awards, discharge papers and proof of burial place indicating that the deceased does not currently have an identifying marker and your relationship to the deceased). Request Form 40-1330 (Application For Standard Government Headstone or Marker), fill it out and return it to the V.A. They will provide the stone, pay for the shipping, and have it delivered to the location you specify. If you intend to have a memorial service, please bear in mind that the procedure may take as long as five months. Thanks Barbara.:>)
