Hello list, I thought I would post my George Moore JACKSON, who married Sarah Cabell PERKINS. He was the youngest son born to James JACKSON and his wife Sarah "Sallie" Moore JACKSON. They lived in Lauderdale County, near the town of Florence, at their plantation was called "The Forks of Cypress." George M. JACKSON was one of 10 children born of this union. In case you remember the movie and book, "Queen", this was the family. George Moore JACKSON and his wife Sarah Cabell PERKINS, are buried in a double grave at the JACKSON cemetery in Lauderdale County, AL. George Moore JACKSON, b. 17 FEB 1829, in Lauderdale County, AL. married 4 OCT 1853 Sarah Cabell PERKINS, daughter of William O'Neal PERKINS.(b.23 May 1834, at "The Sinks" plantation in AL. Sarah is a descendant of Pocahontas. Her mother was Pocahontas Rebecca Bolling Meredith.) George and Sarah JACKSON'S home was near Tuscumbia, AL, in Colbert County, AL, and was named "Moorefields" The house was used as a hospital during the civil war. Sometime after the war, the house burned down. Their children were; Alexander, Jane (my great grandmother), Rufus, Kate Brekenridge, and Richard Harrison (who would one day become commander of the Pacific battlefleet and 4 star Admiral, US Navy.
