Hi everyone. I am researching my WISE and MAY families.These lines are very hard to trace because my grandfather Arthur Horace WISE, and some of his siblings, were not registered under the WISE name. Arthur's mother, Alice Mary MAY was not married to Robert WISE....in fact, Robert had many children who were born throughout Melbourne. To save a scandal, all Alice's children were registered in the name of PERKINS, which was her married name (she was originally married to Charles PERKINS) and whom she never divorced. Arthur was born in 1902 at Hoddle Street, Collingwood, Melbourne, VIC. Australia and was a famous jockey during the 1920s, coming third in the 1920 Melbourne Cup on 'Queen Comedy'. He resided earlier in Caulfield when he married my grandmother Gwendolyn Vernon Manning DAVIS from Melton Victoria, living later in St. Kilda, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Arthur and Gwen spent some years caretaking a Bacchus Marsh hotel which had been a MANNING concern for years (my grandmother's mother's maiden name was MANNING). Both the MANNING and DAVIS families bred and trained racehorses. That is how my grandmother met my grandfather.Any info on any of these names would be appreciated. Thankyou. Kindest Regards.
