Hi, everyone: I think the lesson to be learned from the recently posted warning goes way beyond this specific case. We all need to learn to be wary (not fearful, just careful) about links that appear in response to a broadly-based search request. After a while, one learns which sites are likely to be useless.... This kind of scam has been around since before computers were common, by the way. Years ago, "get your family coat of arms" offers often had as much to do with getting your address on a mailing list of genealogists as they did with getting your money (not to say money wasn't important [grin]). There are some very valuable sites on the Internet. The biggest are often very good; so are some of the smallest, it's just that they don't cover as much. Quality doesn't always relate to quantity, either way. But quantity will usually get you more "hits" on Google.... Hello list, For anyone searching Texas Perkins, I have done alot of research on many of the Texas lines. I am looking for descendants of John T. Perkins and his wife Margaret. They came to Roberton county, Texas around 1847 from Georgia. They had two known sons, Aaron T. Perkins and James Perkins. I do not have my notes with me, but believe they were both on the 1860 census as small children. I know Aaron T. (A.T.) was in Shelby county, Texas in 1885 when he received his share of his grandfather's estate. James was here also, but not sure what county. Is anyone researching these people? Hello list, I have noticed that nearly everyone that has posted the lineage of Nicholas Perkins of Virginia from 1641 has his father listed as Aden Perkins of Nottinghamshire, England. I have both the Ufton Court Perkins family book and the Hall book, The Descendants of Nicholas Perkins of Virginia and I must say that these scholarly books fail to make that connection. Can anyone point me toward a source, citation or proof positive that Nicholas is the son of Aden? Aden Perkins is listed on the Jamestowne Society site as an investor in the Virginia Company but I can find no record of him in Virginia. Rich Fischer
