Trying to find first name, plus all details on a Mr. Perkins. He married Edith Wyllys dau. of Philander and Eliza Snow Wyllys of Windham County, Ct. Edith was born 1872, so I am thinking Mr Perkins would be born in 1860s-1872 give or take a few years. Sorry I don't have anything else to add. Thank you, April
Sorry, not in my database. Doug
Don't have an Elisha Perkins to my knowledge. I am Walter Lee Perkins, Jr. My father wasWalter Lee Perkins, Sr. His father was Paul Lancing Perkins, Sr., His father was William Henry Perkins and his father, Benjamin Perkins. Benjamin was born Connecticut, 1801. William Henry was born 1833 in Orange County New York. Paul was born in Jackson, Mississippi. My father was born in West Point, Mississippi. Benjamin's sons were James, William Henry, John, Benjamin, and Charles. His daughters were Hannah, Emily, and _____________. If any of these strike a hit let me know. Regards, Lee Perkins
Thank you. I'll look in and see what connects! Doug
Hello Perkins Listers, It's really interesting to renew familiarity with the various Perkins family groups. I'm hoping against hope that some kind lister can help me with a major 'brick wall'. I have been stuck in the early 1800s in Litchfield CT. I am looking for my gg grandfather, Enoch Perkins of Litchfield, who married Huldah Aurelia Pringle in 1835 or 1838 in Warren County MO where Enoch died around 1848. I need infoprmation as to the birth place, parents and siblings of Enoch Perkins. Any references as to the appropriate places to write for birth records will also be aappreciated. Barbara: Lyman is an unusual and rare given name in the Perkins I have on my data base. I have a Lyman Almy Perkins born 1871 in Topsfield MA. If this is part of your line, I have his direct line back into England in the 1630s. Doug
Greetings: I have been unsuccessfully searching for ancestors of a William Perkins "of Kittery ME" who married a Charlotte Isabel Dow in Bow NH (J/P) on 10 Jun 1810. Their banns are posted in a Kittery church and he is listed as "from Kittery ME" on the filing in the town records. The "Book of Dow" is silent on both of them. A check of NH Vital Records added no further information They had a son Artemus born 13 Jan 1813 in Bow NH. William apparently died before April 1816 when "widow Perkins" married Edmund Silver. If anyone has data on William's lineage, I would appreciate you sharing it. Perkins's are numerous as bees in York County ME, but so far I have made no connections. Doug Perkins
Interesting message. I am also a direct descendant of the Elisha Perkins and Katherine Towne, noted in your response to the "Perkins List" broadcast. They apparently spent their entire lives in Topsfield MA, she dying in 1714 and he in 1741. Some of my Perkins line eventually migrated to Rindge NH, later to Wethersfield VT and then to Rochester VT. Doug Perkins
Hello, Thank you for the email. I do not know anything about the Perkins you mention. I am not back that far yet. I will keep the little info you sent. Maybe someday I may connect to them. I am still trying to find the parents names of my 3rd gt grandfather Lyman Perkins. He and his father, mother and brother lived in the Shoreham, Addison, Vermont area for a while and I think Lyman(br 1800) was born there. His wife Seyna Blasdell was born there. I have a Benjamin Perkins who was born about 1801 in Connecticut. He later moved to Orange County NY. He shows up there in the 1830 Census. In the 1840 census, there is another older male residing in the household (his father?). One of Benjamin's sons was William Henry, born 1833 in Orange County NY, was my great grandfather. I thought that my Benjamin was the possible son of Edward Perkins who wound up in Illinois. However, DNA tests indicate that Edward is of a different line. If you have a male relative perkins you can run a DNA test and compare with other Perkins lines in Connecticut (See SCPerkins DNA). If you run across my Benjamin I would appreciate a "heads up". Hi All, Since the Perkins list has suddenly come alive again I'd like to ask about my Benjamin, son of William Perkins and Irene Smith in CT, of the Hillmorton line (I think). Benjamin is buried in the family plot in Chicago, along with Samuel Ezra Jackson (my g-g-grandfather) and one Samuel's gr-sons with his family and in-laws. The dates match those of Benjamin who married Azuba Hatch. I have not been able to find the final resting place for Samuel's wife or Azuba. The death record for my gr-grandfather, Charles Henry Jackson, shows his mother as Jane Perkins. One of his sons was the informant. However, Samuel Ezra was born in 1823 and would have been 12 years older than the Jane I find as Benjamin's daughter. Samuel Ezra may have had 9 children, but I have not found them all yet. Two of the daughters give Doretta L Perkins as their mother. Are you confused yet? My question is were there two Perkins women who married my Samuel Ezra in Chicago by about 1845-49? Or is she yet another one of my ancestors who used more than one first name? Samuel was also known as just Ezra because his father was Samuel T. Where were Benjamin and the rest of his family until he was buried in Graceland Cemtery in Chicago? Where was Azuba buried? And where is Samuel's wife buried? It is not like I haven't looked. I've been searching for several years. I'd be real happy just to have a clue. I can't find Samuel Ezra in any census after 1840. I don't find his son Charles until 1900. I don't find his daughters until 1880 when they are married and living in Michigan City IN. The sisters names were Anna and Doretta. I find 2 Jackson sisters living with their widowed mother Julia in southern Illinois in 1880 that are the right ages, but my Anna and Doretta are both married and living in northern IN. Doretta is not a common name, so its odd to see that same name combo in another family. If any of you Perkins are connected to an early Chicago Perkins family I would love to hear from you. They may have been connected to education. A school bell said to be from the first school in Chicago is in the possesion of other members of the Jackson family. Though I have determined it may not have been the first school, rather among of the first schools. Hi Paula! Right after I wrote your name and hit send I thought it looked strange! Old age setting in I guess. I have your book siting right here on my desk as always and was staring straight at your name. Haven't a clue where the "stein" came from!!!!!!!!!!! I was not sure about her question but I knew you'd know! How are you feeling? We don't talk near enough anymore. I retired from the theatre business early (if 59 is early) and decided to work for Walt Disney World. Having a lot of fun playing every day with Mickey and the gang and get paid for it to! Pretty good huh! Write when you have time, would love to know what your up to! Sincerely, Jim
Hi Jim, that is Mortensen. I have been checking my Perkins material, and so far have not come up with anything. I will keep looking. Her dates are too late for the Henry you are thinking of. My Perkins is a child (probably an orphan) from Ireland who came over around 1875. I don't suppose you have any information on this line? Elyce Croswhite-Zahn San Francisco
