    2. Thank you Cole. The reason I wrote you off-list is because I had already put a call out on this gentleman and already received no reply....I didn't want to bore the list. Sorry, I don't understand where to get this 22 issue set. I do know Williams Haplogroup...it's the same as mine Hg.I and also the Haplogroup of the Massachusetts and New Hampshire Perkins....but except for the first few markers the rest are different. There was no information on a wife. I saw him on a DNA Project page and found I had a match with him. I've been trying to find him since. I found many William Perkins in the various genealogies...but not him that I could find. If you could let me know how to get in touch with the Perkins Press....I'd appreciate it. Thank you for answering my e-mail, Cole. Peace! 1. Perkins maybe in England
    2. Sue & Colin Perkins
    3. I am trying to find the son of John (Jack) Perkins (b1889) and Marie (maiden name unknown, reputedly French). John was born in Hereford City in England and worked for some time as a buyer for one of the shoe companies in the East Anglia, Midlands area of England. His son might have been called John or Robert but he definitely trained as chef in one of the big London hotels. In 1960 he was somewhere between 18 and 22 years old. If anyone has any information about how I can find this man or his descendants, I'd love to hear from you. He is my husband's second cousin and apparently has an interest in genealogy and I'd love to exchange informatoin with him. Thanks Regards Sue Perkins Rarangi, New Zealand

    3. Hi Kathryn, First a gentle reminder, if you reply to the list everyone gains and someone else may have the answer or can add to the conversation. Second I don't have a William b. 1738 in my data. I checked some of the Perkins Press for him but didn't find him right off. If you can find access to this set you may find him there. It is a 22 issue set, 30pgs each, by Jennifer Perkins ISSN# 0898-1574 There are about 5 to 10 references to a William in each edition. That's 200+ lookups. Do you have a wife maiden name? that would be easier as it's only needed to check the index in each issue. Also if you can find a match with his haplogroup would be a good start. Be patient with the DNA it is only in it's fourth year of testing and just passed the 60,000 test kit mark at FTDNA. BTW I am willing to do lookups in the Perkins Press for non Perkins names, ie. spouses. 3. Here is my Perkins history I am hoping it might sound familiar to someone on the list. William Perkins b. 1816 Windsor, Broome, NY d 1896 Broome, NY Married Sophia Ann Lagier b 1826 Otsego, NY William and Sophia had many children… Julius b. 1846 married Jennie Helen Chase (Jennie was born in ChenangoCo) Daniel J. b. 1848 George b 1853 Mary Elizabeth 1860 Franklin b 1863 John b 1847 Lewis b 1844 (died in Civil War) Theodora b 1851 Allen b 1859 Albert b 1853 David A. b 1849 This family lived in Broome Co, NY and Susquehanna PA There are occasional references to Otsego as well. I have pieced together a good bit of the history for William and Sophia’s son Julius. . However, William’s parents remain a mystery. William’s death certificate lists his parents as Cyrus Perkins b. CT and Clarissa Payne b. NY. However, researching the records, I find no Cyrus Perkins in Broome in the early 1800’s nor do I find references to him in CT. I do, however, find references to a Josiah and Clarissa Perkins in Windsor, NY and Bradford PA. Josiah was from CT…born in the late 1700’s. I also believe he may have had a son named Harlow…..Harlow lived next door to William and Sophia in 1850 in Broome. In 1856 Harlow and his wife Diana and their children perished in a house fire.. Sad story. The elderly mother died as well. The father, according to the article was visiting another son who lived next door (I assume this was my William Perkins) Joanne Sholes

    2. I don't recollect whether I replied to you or not ... I'm hunting down a George Perkins who appeared to have come from Ireland when he was 9 (possibly with a brother) around 1875. He seemed to have come through Ellis Island and then ended up on an orphan train to Missouri where he was adopted by the Croswhite family (my husband's side). We're not sure if it was a formal adoption, but at some point in his late teen's, early 20's, he starting using the Croswhite name, versus Perkins. Does this sound familiar? Elyce Croswhite-Zahn

    2. I joined the Norman DNA Project and am ,also, "out there by myself", as well as other Normans. I did have a match of 36/37 with a William Perkins, b. 1738, New Haven, Conn. Now what does that mean? Possibly an adoption, change of surname or illigitimate child. This William was born about the time of our Norman progenitor (abt. 1737), however, our progenitor (Capt. John Norman) was born in Cornwall, England. The genealogy put out there for William Perkins,b.1738, is faulty because they place William with a father who is only a few years older and siblings 30-odd years younger. Also, and this is the important thing....the DNA doesn't match this New Haven family of Timothy Perkins. This William Perkins b.1738 is not connected to any family I can see. His Haplogroup is the same as the Mass. & New Hampshire Perkins families...yet, the markers don't match. If any one on this list knows of this gentleman I would greatly appreciate it. I found his DNA markers on an older (not the new) Perkins DNA Project which was submitted to the DNA Genealogy Mailing list a couple of months ago....so someone must know William. No one on the DNA Mailing List responded to my plea. So, Mary Lou, take heart! You are not alone! Peace! Kathryn E.
