My second great grandmother Clementine Perkins b. 1814 S.C. married Jan 3, 1828, James Powell b. 1803 Georgia.(Some Early Marriage Records of Hous. Co. Ga. 1825-1845) She died 1860 in Cherokee Co, Texas. I have been at a standstill on her line. According to deed book "C" Hous. Co., Ga. Superior Ct. Deeds 1826-1829 in June 1828 William N. Perkins granted to Clementina Perkins $200.00; 1 young sorrel horse, saddle & bridle, 6 cows and calves, 3 head goats, 2 sows and pigs. for her proper use and benefit. Signed - William N. Perkins. (A William N. Perkins owned land in section 13, Houston Co., near James Powell who also owned land in the same section.) From "Ga. Land Lottery Papers" p 265, Houston Co. Lot 197-8 Dooly. Personally came James Powell to claim lot 197-8 Dooly, having married one of the daughters of Thomas Perkins. Signed, James Powell - June 1843. Can anyone shed any light on this family? I have a James B. Perkins born1817 in Tennessee married 1836 in Carter Co., Tennessee toSarah Buntin born1817 in Tennessee. They had a daughter Sarah Eveline who married William Box who was born in Dade Co., Missouri. This is my stepmother's line. I would appreciate any help on James B Perkins and or Sarah Buntin.I got much of my material from the following: !Marriage: Quote from Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Western Arkansas, published by the Southern Publishing Co. 1891. Chicago and Nashville. History of Conway Co., Page 48 "Rev. William T. Box, Missionary Baptist Minister at Morrilton, was born in Dade County, Missouri, April 5, 1840; his parents were Thomas and Margaret (Choan) Box. Thomas Box was a son of the earliest pioneers to Tennessee, and was born in that state Oct 13, 1799; he was reared on a farm and followed the occupation of a farmer all his life. He was taken to Kentucky by his parents when a boy and resided in that state till his 25th year, when he went to Illinois and settled in Davidson County. He married in about 1829 and the fruits of that union were 9 children, 5 sons and 4 daughters, of whom 3 sons and 1 daughter are now living. William T., the subject of this sketch, Harrison, Lewis and Eliza wife of John Sherley, now living in Logan County, this state. Father emigrated from Illinois to Arkansas in 1857 and settled in Scott County and later came to Conway County, where he died Oct. 15, 1880. His had been the life of a pioneer, pushing on to the frontier of new settlements. He opened his eyes in this world on the last year of the last century and lived to the present had nearly run it's course. He was a soldier in the Indian War, but did more to subdue the wilderness than those savage men. At the time of his death, he had been for many years a member of the Baptist Church. His excellent wife was a native of Illinois and died in Missouri in 1847. Our subject was united in marriage Nov. 17, 1861 to Miss Sarah E. Perkins, daughter of James B. and Sarah (Buntin) Perkins; parents were natives of Tennessee, where father was born Feb. 2, 1817, and mother Oct. 11, of the same year. They were married in Carter County about 1835 and were the parents of 9 children, 7 of whom are now living. To the union of Mr. and Mrs. Box have been born ten children, 4 only now living; James H., Jenny, Mettie M., and Willie M. living, and Mary A., Martha S., Thomas A., William J., and Bertha deceased. Mrs. Box's father emigrated from Tennessee to Missouri in 1857 and died in that state in 1869; her mother died Nov. 12, 1886. They were members of the Baptist Church. Our subject began his preparation for the ministry in 1865 and was ordained in the Baptist Church in 1867. He was the third pastor of the Missionary Baptist Church at Morrilton and has since served at Hope in Hempstead County and at Prescott in Nevada County. He was recalled to Morrilton in the spring of 1890. Mr. Box owns farm property in Conway County, and has just completed a pleasant residence in Morrilton, which, occupied by his intelligent and interesting family, is one of the happiest homes of that place."
