Is anyone out there working on the Nicholas Perkins Lineage back into England? I have seen 2 versions, but don't know if either are correct. Have not been able to find good references for either. Denise--you can add me to that list of Perkins in that line. After getting with Olive Richardson--she sent me a great package--I'm descended from PETER PERKINS and HANNAH FORD, son of JOHN and MARY PERKINS. I'm interested in finding out if ELIZABETH HOPKINS, wife of SAMUEL FORD, who are the parents of my HANNAH FORD, and I assume Stephen Perkins, ELIZABETH FORD, is descended from STEPHEN HOPKINS, the MAYFLOWER immigrant? I have found a MAYFLOWER connection for JOHN and MARY'S great-grandson in my line: LEVINA EDSON, SAMUEL PERKINS wife, is descended from FRANCIS COOKE. Interesting. Anyway, I copied your list. Thanks. We are new to this list. Our interest is Olive Perkins, an ancestor of my wife's, about whom we know only the following: Husband: Noah Litchfield died at age: 75 Born: __ ___ 1817 Died: __ ___ 1892 Wife: Olive E. Perkins died at age: 79 Born: __ ___ 1817 Died: __ ___ 1896 Children 1 Noah Litchfield Jr. 2 Wilbur Fredric Stearns Litchfield Born: 1852 I have no firm location information, but descendants lived near Boston and in Rumford, Me. We have inherited a lovely oil portrait of her, in the style typical of the travelling portrait artists of that time. I'd be glad to send a picture of it to anyone who can provide any leads about her or her family. I have lots of information about the descendents of Wilbur Fredric Stearns Litchfield, if anyone is interested. Dave and Marcia Larkin Tokyo ------------------------------
Searching for the parents of Rachel Perkins, she married Stephen Pitcock 21 Mar. 1749 in the Christ Lutheran Church, York Co. PA, they moved to VA in or near Winchester. Thanks Earline ------------------------------
My earliest Perkins: Henry, b. 1556, Hillmorton, Warwick, England; married Elizabeth Sawbridge, November 1579. Their son John Perkins b. 1583, Hillmorton, W., England, married Judith Gater 1608 and they and their seven children arrived Boston 1631 on the Lion. Later settled in Ipswich. Their son Jacob, b. 1624, Hillmorton, W, England, married Elizabeth Whipple, b 1620 Bocking, Essex, England. (Ipswich HIstorical Society in Ipswich, located in the Whipple House establishes Elizabeth as a Whipple, not a Lovell as is given in one source and quoted in others.) Jacob and Elizabeth's son Jacob, b. 1664 in Ipswich, Mass., married Elizabeth Sparks in Ipswich. Their son, another Jacob, married Anna Littlefield in October 1717 in Hampton Falls, Rockingham, New Hampshire. Anna is the dau of Josiah Littlefield and Lydia Masters. They resided in Wells, Maine where their daughter Anna Perkins had a son named Jesse. Jesse went by the surname Perkins, but I have not been able to identify him. Possibly Anna had Jesse out of wedlock and gave him her surname. When Jesse was nine years old, Anna Perkins married Deacon Nathaniel Taylor, who had a daughter, Eunice, from his previous marriage to Jerusha Goodwin. When grown, Jesse and Eunice, step-syblings who presumably were raised in the same household, married and had ten children. Their son, George Kames Perkins, born in Wells, Maine in 1808 (other sources give 1815, 1823) later a Presbyterian minister and a graduate of Amherst College was my 2gr grandfather. Rev. George Kames Perkins travelled to the south (Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky) establishing schools and churches, and in KY he married Elizabeth Ophelia Catherine Gray of Greensboro, KY. (She was the dau of Catherine Bird "Kitty Bird" Winn and William Gray, all of KY. ) Rev. George and Elizabeth Perkins had at least six children including my gr-grandfather Leonidas Camuel or Campbell Pekins who m. Eliza Jane "Jenny" Upton. Other ch. are Havana E. who m. David Woods in Alabama; , H. John who m. Mollie; Bertha, who m. R. S. Nunn; Mollie who m. --Carver, and Fanny who m. S. O. Nunn. My grandmother, Gail Perkins was the dau of Leonidas C. and Eliza Jane "Jenny" Upton Perkins. They lived in Illinois. Gail Perkins m. Henry Everett Warthen, son of Walter Samuel Warthen from Virginia. I'd be happy to share what I have on these Perkins. I am also particularly interested in learning about the southern Perkins - Alabama, Kenhtucky and Tennessee - who are the issue of Rev. George Perkins. Happy hunting. Dear Cousins, I am looking for information on a William Perkins who may have been from New England and married to a Mary a. Klum, (daughter of George Klum) from NEW YORK State. Other clues show that William's mother name was Susanna Rogers. It seems to be that William is tha father of my 3rd Great-Grandmother, Harrietta Amanda(Perkins)Limpus, of Fayette County, Indiana. William and Harrietta were living in the same township in the 1880 census. Many Thanks, Donna(Granger)Wood ------------------------------
His method of disbursing his estate sounds biblical. I have another PERKINS ancestor who was a lay preacher for the Methodist church. There is an archives for the Methodist church at Lake Junaluska, NC which is their southeastern jurisdictional conference center. That is where I found my fellow being appointed to a church in AL, probably very small. You might try addressing a letter like this: Methodist Archives Harrell Center Lake Junaluska, NC 28745 or you might try calling. The area code is (704), but I don't know the number. Do you have any more information on this Peter Perkins? Thanks, Julie O'Neil Perkins Coweta Co., GA >Forwarded to: internet[PERKINS-L@rootsweb.com] > cc: >Comments by: Ernest E. I am looking for information on Lafayette Perkins (1786-1874), a physician who studied at Harvard Medical School and practiced in Maine (first in the town of Weld and later in Farmington). His wife was Dorcas Abbott, daughter of Benjamin Abbott of Temple. Two of his sons, John W. Perkins and Benjamin A. Perkins were partners in a large wholesale drug business in Portland in the latter part of the century and died after 1910. The oldest son, Charles J. Perkins graduated from Bowdoin College and became a physician with a practice in Upperville, Virginia, where he died in 1843. The youngest son, Samuel E. Perkins died in Farmington in 1890. I would greatly appreciate any information on where Lafayette was born and who his parents were. Bob Keith Yarmouth, Maine ------------------------------
Ah yes, and then there was the genealogist who thought at last he/she had found the last name of that elusive ancestor in the census. She was an Indian, and her last name was Unk. :-) Paula P.S. to keep on the right track, I descend from John Perkins of Ipswich, and will gladly help anyone with ancestors or descendants of this line. ------------------------------
