    3. Those who have upgraded to IE 4.0 be careful. They have defaulted to HTML format for mail and plain text for news groups. I was reading the defaults under the options menu, saw the 'plain text' selected for news groups and didn't automatically make the distinction between the newsgroups and email. To change the default go to the tools menu and choose options. Choose the the send tab and make sure the radio button next to 'Plain Text' is chosen under 'Mail sending format' then click 'Apply' at the bottom and 'OK' This should help a lot of the problems with the list servers and digest mode. I am getting my Hodson line caught up, and still have Perkins (lots) to sort and enter. Will be checking back with you when I get it done - Life does get in the way of my Genealogy at times. 3. I have just updated my Perkins page. I now have a 15 generation report on the what I have for the descendants of Thomas Perkins and Alice Kebble ( Many of them Quaker). It includes such notable people as Samuel Adams -- brewer, statesman, Governor and signer of the Declaration of Independance, James Byron Dean, famous Actor and cult figure from the 50's, and US Presidents Richard Nixon, Millard Filmore,Calvin Coolidge, and Franklin Roosevelt. It is not linked to from my home page and is only temporary at this point. You can see it at http://users/inna.net/~redden/perkins.htm I have to warn you, it's about 337K and 54 pages in word so it may take a few minutes to load. 1. PERKINS: Emmigrants from UK + Ireland
    2. A.Perkins
    3. PERKINS emmigrants from UK + Ireland I am maintaining a WWWeb page dedicated to emmigrants from the UK or Ireland with the surname PERKINS. The URL is; http://www.uea.ac.uk/~e850/perkins/genealgy/emgrate/em_perk.htm The purpose of this page is to hopefully re-unite branches of PERKINS families. Dead-ends on family trees may be the result of emmigration. For those of us whose ancestors remained in the UK, researching these dead-ends presents us with no option but impossibly long searches through usually un-indexed sources. For descendents of UK emmigrants, the precise place of origin is often not known (particularly for pre-1837 emmigrants when there was no civil registration of births in the UK). And for all of us is a lack of a central list of known emmigrants. Hence this web page. It is intended to list only actual emmigrants, not their ancestors or descendants. In the case of a family emmigrating, each person can be listed. This page is to be restricted to PERKINS emmigrants proven to have been BORN in the UK or Ireland. This site is not for strays within UK + Ireland (although eventually I may expand it in that way), nor for posting queries on UK/Ireland lines that come to apparent dead-ends. No surname variants (e.g. Perkings or Perkin) have been included. Formats for submitting information on known PERKINS emmigrants can be found on the web page. Andy Perkins a.perkins@uea.ac.uk

    3. General Register Office (England and Wales) - PERKINS extracts Very slowly I am extracting entries of the surname PERKINS from these indexes from their published quarterly format (Jan to Mar, Apr to Jun, Jul to Sep, Oct to Dec) into a yearly format sorted by forename. The indexes start in the 3rd quarter (July onwards) in 1837. I am extracting only the surname PERKINS. No variants (e.g. Perkings or Perkin) will be been extracted. Extracts are available as comma-delimited ASCII text files from; http://www.uea.ac.uk/~e850/perkins/genealgy/gro/gro.htm Currently I have extracted; Births: 1837 (3rd and 4th Quarter only); 1838 (1st Quarter only) Marriages: 1837 (3rd and 4th Quarter only); 1892 (1st Quarter only) Deaths: 1837 (3rd and 4th Quarter only) Andy Perkins a.perkins@uea.ac.uk

    2. Isn't technology great? I sit here in south Louisiana and watch as you get my ancestry from Pierre de Morlaix in France to England to Edward Perkins in New Haven, Conn. Can you help me connect Edward Perkins to Reverand Henry Willis Perkins (b. ?) (about 1830 if you allow 25 years per generation) who was a Seventh Day Adventist minister in Mt. Carmel. He performed the wedding ceremony there for his grandson in 1907? Our local genealogy library has only limited Conn. resources, so I would appreciate any and all help. Dorothy Perkins Gray

    3. From NEHGR v. , Jan. 1858 P79-83 The Perkins Family of Hampton, N.H. by Asa W Brown of East Rockport, O. on pg 83. XXI. Joseph Perkins (xx. 1,) had ch.: 1, David, b. 1 Oct. 1785; d. young. --2, Lydia, b, 8 May, 1738; m. William Swain, 16 Feb. 1759. -- David, b. 3 Nov. 1740, m. Abigail Griffith, 22 March 1764; d. 15 Aug. 1866. -- 4. Sarah, b. 4 Jan, 1748. -- 5. Benjamin, b. 17 Oct. 1746. Wu, Did he m. Elizabeth Cressy, 11 April, 1767? -- 6, Hannah, b. 12 May, 1752. Joseph was the son of Isaac bp. 1611/12, and Susanna (reported to be Wise or Wyeth but evidently not proven) PERKINS of Hampton MA. I had eroneously listed the father of Isaac and his half brother Abraham as William but it is now more likely that it was William's brother Isaac bp 1571 and his wife Alice. who in turn was the son of thomas Perkins, d. 1588-92 of Hillmorton, Warwickshire, England m. alice (Kebble?) 3. I looked at FTM's CD #181, "English Origins of New England Families under the ancestors of William Perkins and from that it does not seem that Isaac was any relation. NEHGR v 10, July, 1856 p. 216 lists Isaac as "probably the brother of John and Abraham" This is hardly authoratative though. It doesn't list their father but says they were probably a cousin of the Rev. William Perkins, son of William Perkins of England. From all evidence that I can find right now I have to conclude that William was probably not the father of Isaac and Abraham. If you have anything else contradicting this I would appreciate your letting me know. P.S. Along with Nixon who was a descendant of Isaac Perkins through Rebecca=John Hussey, Roberts lists presidents Filmore, Coolidge, and F.D. Roosevelt as descendants of his supposed grandparents Thomas Perkins d. 1588-92 of Hillmorton, Warwickshire, England and his wife Alice (Kebble?) through Henry Perkins' son John of Ipswich. This eliminates the idea from v10 of NEHGS that John was the brother of Isaac and Abraham.
