    3. Yep and the 1900 census listed Mrs E.E. Perkins in Kauffman county Texas as a patient at the hospital in Terrell but had no other info that I could follow up on, same info I got from the Hospital as a matter of fact... I am stumped! 3. I am interested in any information on my grandmother's family who spent some years in Margate. My grandmother was Elizabeth Beatrice PERKINS who married my grandfather Alfred Charles HARRIS in 1891. She was known as Lily and was born in 1870. I do not know where she was born, (it could have been in Anglesey, Birkenhead or Yorkshire) but I do know her parents were Edward Austin PERKINS and Elizabeth EYRES. E.A.PERKINS had a removal business in Margate and ran the bathing machines on the beach at the beginning of the century, so I'm told. One of her brothers, Walter, was Mayor of Margate in the late 1940's early 1950's. If anyone can add to this information I would be pleased to hear from you, so we can share information. Thanks in advance, Val Lacey.

Perkins. ... I was told her first name may have >been Mary but that does'nt help much. ... I don't know if this is going to be of any help, but I have a Cato A. Perkins listed who was born 1858, a son of Jacob Perkins and Mary Jane "Polly" Maricle. Cato was born in LA and died in Montgomery Co, TX. Mary was born 1819 in LA and reportedly died after 1910, also in Montgomery Co. Other children of Jacob and Mary were Jesse F., Isaac J., Sarah Ann, Joshua, Laura, and Dick Perkins. These Perkinses descend from a family which moved from SC to St Landry Parish, LA and settled in what is now Calcasieu Parish, LA in the early 1800s. Some of them remained in LA, but others moved into TX. Jacob had an uncle and a brother named Cader, which may really have been Cater, a dialect pronunciation of Cato. There was a Cato family in the area of SC where these Perkinses came from and some of their descendants spell the surname Cater. One of the Catos was married to a Perkins, and it may be that the first name Cato/Cader comes from that family's surname. In any event, it is not a common name, and it is most curious that you also have a Cato in your Perkins family. There's a number of differences in the data to be accounted for, but if you find reason to believe that the 2 1858 Catos are the same person, get in contact with me by private e-mail and I'll tell you more. 2. Thought I would pass along some information which I recently found a new set of books entitled "The Great Migration Begins". published in 1995 by the New England Histoic Genealogical Society. It discusses many of the important immigrants to New England in the early years. It is my impression that the information has been very carefullly checked. Two Perkins are discussed. There is an article on John Perkins b. 23 Dec. 1583 in Warwickshire, son of Henry and Elizabeth (Sawbridge) Perkins died in Ipswich 1654 . He married Judith Gater daughter of Micheal Gater. Chilrdren were John, Elizabeth, Mary, Anne, Thomas, Jacob and Lydia. There is a cryptic note "Walter Goodwin Davis discusses the possibility that Isaac Perkins of Ipswich was a close relative". There is also an article on William Perkins of London, first came to MA (Roxbury) in 1632 on the William & Francis. He was educated at Cambridge. Rebecca of Colorado Springs
