My "MOST WANTED" wish this holiday would be to find information on "dead ends" with both my PERKINS lines...... Need anything available on Abraham PERKINS, m Betsy (?). Daughter Sarah PERKINS, b abt 1783; m 1797, GA to Isaiah SMITH. Sarah died 25 Sep 1866, Lawrence Co., MS. Also need to find parents of Samuel PERKINS, b 1700; m 1726, Colleton Co., SC to Miss REES (d/o Daniel REES). Samuel is thought to have been born about 1700 and to have left the Welch Tract community in Pennsylvania with his family, for South Carolina in the 1730's. No evidence is found of Samuel in the Welch Neck settlement on the Pee Dee River, but two of his daughters, who were known to be sisters of Rees PERKINS (his son and my direct ancestor), were members of the Welch Neck Baptist Church in the late 1700's. A church known as the Baptist Church meeting near Iron Hill in Pencader Hundred in New Castle County, DE, was where Miss REES (first name unknown still) and her father were known to be members but their records are inconclusive as to dates. Except in the case of her father (Daniel REES) whose baptism was recorded in 1711. If anyone is connected to, researching, or otherwise has information on either Abraham PERKINS, or Samuel PERKINS lines.....please let me hear. Would love to share! Happy holidays to all and to all a goodnight.......Bettiann Lloyd, Austin, TX
Here's hoping! Samuel PERKINS b.c. 1804 SC, listed in 1850 in Fayette Co., AL along with wife Mahala, b.c. 1814 SC. Children: William S., Thomas, John W., Jackson L., Samuel Moody (my line), Martha, Greenberry, Edgar, and Alexander. Also listed was his father, Samuel PERKINS age 90, b. VA (making him born about 1760). I would be interested in information related to this elder Samuel Perkins, his wife, other children, etc. including this younger Samuel. Information on the wife, Mahala Perkins, who _may_ have been a "Porter" would be appreciated. Also interested in descendant information on the children listed above. I have a bit on William S. and Edgar, and a good bit on Greenberry, but nothing on the others except birth dates per census records. Best wishes in this holiday seasons to each of you... John Perkins married (and I've seen both of these in public records) ? Cutting or Orinda ?. I've put down Orinda Cutting, which is not necessarily right. His son Ira moved to Clinton, Ma. in Worcester county and married Eldora Jewett on 18 May 1876. It would be a wonderful Christmas present if someone has run across these people in there research. Thanks Marty Loss

Hi Everyone, I am looking for the parents of Horace Perkins of New Hartford, Oneida Co., NY, b.10/14/1796 I believe that he is descended from Rev. Daniel Perkins, Bridgewater, MA, (1697-1782), who m. Anne Foster (1699-1750) 11/6/1721. Children: Daniel, Anne, Sarah, Daniel, Richard. Richard Perkins was b.1729, d. abt. 1800, and m. Mary Hancock (1735-1779), 10/9/1760 at Bridgewater, MA. I believe, and this is the part I need to confirm, they had a son, Richard Jr. (1766-1815) who m. Eliza Nichols (dates unkn), and Richard Jr. and Eliza had a son Horace Perkins, born at New Hartford, Oneida Co., NY, 10/14/1796. I am sure of the date and place but need to confirm his parentage. I believe that the Rev. Daniel Perkins' parents were Tobias (or Tobija) Perkins and Sarah Denison. Any help anyone can provide with these people would be appreciated. Yours, Robert Franson Vancouver, Canada

Hi everyone, Here is a note passed on to me via Midmarch Roots list. Thought it might interest others. Alice "I was in the LDS family history library yesterday looking at a film in Bridgewater, Somerset, England, the film was very washed out or light which made it more difficult to read. I tried to use a magnifying glass which helped a little when a Liberian staff member came up behind me and handed me a sheet of bright yellow paper. He said to lay this yellow paper in the film reader so what you was looking at had a much better contrast. BOY THAT REALLY WORKED!!!!! He also said to make up a kit to keep with me of a rainbow of colors reds, blues, yellows, gray, and green ETC. in couple of shades. the different colors would improve the contrast to where you can read these films much better even with a magnifier, once you use the paper you still have the option of using a magnifier also. He also said that BRIGHT YELLOW WORKED WELL AND DARK BLUE WORKED VERY WELL. but to try several colors and shades to se what worked best for you and the film you are looking at."
