Mary, Thank you for your offer. This is great. I would love to have the Tennessee census. I'm only interested in Williamson County, if that makes it a little easier for you. Thanks again. Karla

Hi all, As you all know, obits may contain quite a bit of information in one tiny package. Sometimes an obit can contain the one tiny hint that will help you find a "brickwall" relationship. For this reason, it's not just sufficient to look for an obit for a particular person, but to search for your surnames through fulltext obituaries as well. Perhaps you won't find the obit for the person that you're looking for but you may find an obit for someone ELSE who has a survivor with the same surname that gives you the answers that you need. Look for all the clues you can find! That's why I'm building the Obituary Archive Search Engine at http://www.obitcentral.com/obitsearch/ Check it out, especially the menu item "Local Obit Searches". If you've never been there, you're in for a treat! Other tools are listed below. -- GREAT BOOKMARKS! Hello from Nebraska!! I am hoping that you can help me out with my forefathers ancestry. I am hoping someone out there will have a missing link. I know I am grabbing at straws but I figure I have nothing to lose. So, here it goes. . . Does any of this sound familiar? I am looking for information or perhaps a copy of enlistment papers for my ggg grandfather, Ruel H. Perkins who was killed in the Battle of Cold Harbor. We have hit the infamous brick wall and have not been successful in locating the names of his parents or his birthplace. Here is the information I do have on Ruel and his wife, Frances Hough/Haugh. Ruel H. (which possibly stands for Henry) Perkins Born: 12-26-1838 Died: 6-1-1864 in the Battle of Cold Harbor, Virginia Enlisted on 8-18-1862 and served as a Private in the Union Army in the Civil War under E Co 2nd Heavy Artillery Reg CT Married: 12-26-1853 in Meriden, Connecticut to Frances Hough/Haugh Frances Hough/Haugh Perkins Died 5-27-1856 (which was 7 days after she gave birth to her son Francis/Frank) Son: Francis Henry Perkins Born: 5-20-1856 in Southingham, Connecticut Died: 3-3-1928 Cairo, Hall County, Nebraska Married: 10-9-1883 York, York County, Nebraska to Emily Etta Dickey We believe that Francis was raised by an Aunt travelling with a family the name of "Seed" and passed through Nebraska at some point. Any information or new suggestions for search (possibly a website) would be most helpful to me. Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you. None are known to me. My Perkins family resided first in Maryland, then Virginia and to North Carolina. I don't have those particular people in my line. If your Perkins line is connected to New England, there were three cousins that came to America about 1630 from Hillmorton Parish in Warwickshire England. Their names were Abraham, Isaac, and John Perkins. (they have been traced back into the 1300's in England and France) There are several books on these Perkins line, and if you review them, they could yield gold for you. Another great source, are the DAR applications. If you find a hit there, it is fairly easy to go way back. Good Luck, Ezra Perkins Jr. (I descend from Abraham) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rogers Family" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, September 26, 2000 12:11 PM Subject: [PERKINS] Just starting > I've just begun my search for Perkins roots and would appreciate any help! > Here's what I know so far: > my dad: John Irving Perkins b.1909 Hampshire County, Ma d.1990 Calif. > m.
