Frances Cox, I need you to get in touch with me. I have lost all my email & bookmarks due to some netscape problems. I didn't get a chance to see your web page. Mary
Lucille, In response to your question about how to find out what funeral home was in charge at the time of your relative's funeral - IF you know where the person is buried, you can contact the cemetery organization, if one exists, to find out which funeral homes usually provide services for that area. If there is no organization behind the cemetery, then you can check with area churches (especially if you know the church that your relatives usually belonged to) to see who they deal with most often. While it's true that a lot of funeral homes have gone out of business since the early 1900s, they are most often bought out by someone still in existence and often their records are stored somewhere. You could also try the yellow pages - or talk to the organist at a Catholic church. The organist can usually tell you which homes are still family run and offer the best chance at locating records or knowing where they are. I hope this gives you a few ideas. Donnell
Can you check for Amanda Perkins, now in Polk County, east texas

Denise, I know John S. Perkins died in 1909 but I don't know where. The only place I have to go with a date is his marriage to Mary Ellen Kyle November 14, 1855 in Putnam County, Indiana. Mary Ellen (Kyle) Perkins died June 20, 1911, again location unknown. Marie

Dear Marie, Yes, check the 1850 IND. and the 1860 IND. Fed Census. Also, you state below that John S. Perkins died in 1909. What state did he die in ? Check that state's 1900 Census for information on his place of birth, his fathers place and his mothers place. Also, if you know when and where he died, have you searched for his obituary or death certificate? Denise Anderson who is helping me with my PERKINS line had a John S. Perkins in her line but, he was from Maine. This is why I asked where your's was from. Too bad he was not from MAINE. Denise, Death certificates were not issued until 1919. Mary
