Someone has suggested that I search for information about my ancestor using his WW 1 draft registration record. (I'm having trouble finding my particularly elusive Perkins bunch.) I am pretty certain he was in Massachusetts at the time of registration since my father was born there. My question is this: how does one determine which film to look at because in Mass. the records are not grouped by county. I think this Perkins family was living in South Hadley or South Hadley Falls. This question is not making much sense, but if anyone out there is familiar with the arrangement of the Massachusetts draft registration records you'll know what I mean and maybe you can help me. I am also new to the Perkins mailing list, and I was wondering if anyone is searching Perkins from GA? I am looking for information on William Perkins who died in Pike Co., GA, 27 May 1892. He was born 30 Jun 1818 possibly in North Carolina, but I am not sure. His wife's name was Nancy, born 24 Apr 1820, died 23 Feb 1896. They are buried on their old home place in Pike Co. They had the following children William Moses (born 2 Sept 1852 died 6 Jul 1933), Milton, Bob, and Nancy. I am looking for William's parents and birth place and Nancy's maiden name (I found one source who think it might be Watson). Also any info on their other children, I only have info on William Moses. Does anyone know if the Kentucky Perkins are connected to the immigrant John Perkins who came from England to America and lived in Mass. or RI. He had a son Christopher Perkins from Providence RI and his son Benjamin Perkins migrated into New York. Any connections?

On May 29, 1887, Thomas McCauley and Mary L. Perkins were married by Reverend John A. Swift at Oak Grove, MO. Thomas said he was 38 years old, but actually he was 44 years old. Mary gave her age as 18. These people are my grandparents. Their son Fred Thomas was my father. They also had another son, Roy Richard, and a daughter, Jessie. I have no idea of whatever became of Mary. The children were "boarders" with apparently unrelated families at an early age (Fred, by the age of nine), but Fred never said that Mary had died. Thomas was in the Veterans Hospital at Leavenworth, KS, for a time, then moved to South Dakota where he died at Battle Mountain Veterans Home in Hot Springs, SD. I would appreciate any help in locating any information about Mary. My father always said that his mother was born in Kentucky, but that may not be correct. Hi Everyone, My family lines in Texas include my great great grandmother Minnie Ann PERKINS. She was born May 9, 1854. (Unknown location.) Minnie Ann married George B. PEOPLES June 27, 1869. (Unknown location) They had (#?) children including my great grandmother Georgia PEOPLES who married Frank Byrdlow CASSIDY b. TN. Minnie Ann PERKINS marriage to George B. PEOPLES was cut short on Oct 3, 1874 when a couple of men knocked on the door to ask directions. George told his wife and children he would be right back and walked the men to the road to show them the way. He was found the next morning on the side of the road, dead. A part of this tale says he was killed by the KKK for his unwillingness to join. I have no idea if this is true. Minnie Ann married Andrew Gambill Sept 24, 1879. (Unknown location) I imagine they were married for a number of years, however it appears she outlived him as well. There is a short quote from an unknown newspaper saying, "Minnie A. Gambill is hale and hearty and full of pep and may get married again", indicating she is probably of an older age by this time. Who or if she married again is unknown as is her location in Texas. My grandfather Eugene Herbert CASSIDY, born 1889 in Windom, TX, ends up working for a business called Perkins Brothers. By my Aunts memory this was a chain of dry goods stores owned by Minnie Ann's brothers. Working there as a bookkeeper and being trained for other positions Eugene meets Gertrude FLOWERS from Sulpher Springs, TX, who is head of alterations for Perkins Brothers. They marry in 1910 in Longview, TX. This TX story takes place in Sulpher Springs, some in Longview, a bit in Windom and my grandfather is said to have spent his childhood in Denison. Since my grandfather was born in Windom, possibly the Perkins family were in that area as well. I have no idea how many stores there may have been or where they were located. Ultimately Eugene and Gertrude move on to CA and open a small chain of shoe stores in the Central Valley. I have yet to uncover the family of Minnie Ann PERKINS or George B. PEOPLES. I am in hopes of finding any information or recollections folks may have about the PERKINS stores, owners, where they may have lived, ect. Would love to find Minnie Ann's family, origins and where she was living during these different times. And of course any familiarity with the PEOPLES would be wonderful too but I'm not expecting miracles. :) Look forward to hearing from anyone who hears a bell of recognition ringing after wading through all this.
