Searching for any information on Mary PERKINS and family. She is shown in the 1790 Washington Co.,MD. census as head-of-household with one male under sixteen and two other females. I presume by this that in 1790 she was a widow with one son and two daughters. Since Mary is not listed in the next census of 1800 in any county of Maryland, I guess she either remarried, moved away or died. I think that possibly one of her daughters was Hannah, who may have been sent to live with cousins in Belmont Co.,OH. sometime after 1800. Does anyone know of a (Mr.)PERKINS who lived in Washington or Allegany Co.,MD. before 1790 but who had died sometime between 1780 and 1790?? Thanks, Don
Looking for information on ANY Perkins people in the Orange/Durham/Alamance Co. NC areas, from the years 1840-1950's. They married into the O'Daniel, Brockwell, Henderson, Conklin and Neville lines. I have had the worst time trying to locate my Perkins, starting with David Perkins b. abt 1774 in NC. I have tracked a David Perkins with the description of mine, but as it turned out, I can't make that definite connection, and I am now doubting it completely. So if anyone out there has any ideas, clues, or suggestions for me, I'd be truly grateful !!!!!

Hi All, I have learned that my ancestor John S. Perkins and his wife Mary Ellen Kyle were born in Indiana. Thanks for the suggestion to check the 1850 Census of Indiana. John S. Perkins (age 27) and his wife, Mary E. (age 20), along with children, Mary E. (age 3) and Ruben (age 1) are listed in Clark Twp., Household #89, Post Office Ladoga. I am still seeking John S. Perkins parents. John was born 14 November 1833 in Indiana, died 10 March 1909. He married Mary Ellen Kyle 14 November 1855 in Montgomery County, Indiana.

Wanda, this Goochland to Caswell County heritage appears to be ours as well. (Then our family went south and yours went north, evidently.) I wrote earlier that I had called my younger sister and she and her daughters and a grandchild all had this same birthmark. I guess the next question is whether or not this is such a common mark that almost EVERY family could be saying the same thing that we are saying here. That would be worth looking into if anyone knew how. Over a year ago when I was on a Nova Scotia list the subject came up of surnames of "Ross" having a white streak through their hair that ran for generations. It seemed this satrip of white ran in certain Ross families also.

After 3 days of reading about the birthmark I suddenly remembered my younger brother Jim Perkins has the same thing. I called him to tell him about others apparently having the same mark. Jim's birthmark is at the hairline and is not discernible unless he gets a very short cut. I asked him to contact his children and ask them if they have the same thing. I find this very interesting. We are descended from Perkins in Goochland Co Va, Caswell Co NC, Green and Hart Co Ky, Floyd and Harrison Co Indiana. Wanda Perkins Stepp
Dear list members, When I read the questions about the "Perkins" birthmark at the back of the neck, just above the hairline, I remembered that my little sister (seven years younger than I) had had just that kind of mark right above her blond hairline. It later faded out. I called her right away to confirm it and she told me that at least 2 of her three daughters had also had the same mark and one of her grandchildren. In addition, she had a mark much like it on the back of her leg behind the knee, just as another writer had indicated. All of these marks have faded as she and her family grew older. Very interesting potential relationships here. Our line of Perkins is Julius Malone Perkins (b 1909 Social Circle GA) Joseph Olien Perkins (b 1874 Rutledge, Walton County, GA) John Ingram Perkins (b 1848 Walton County GA) Elbert J. Perkins (b 1822) John Ingram Perkins (b 1798) Jesse Perkins (b 1768) and back to Nicholas Perkins of Virginia.
