Jacob Rowe Sarah Perkins b. 1806 m. Levi Carpenter Drury M. Perkins b. 1807 m. Sarah H. Bonner Susannah Perkins b. 1808 m. David Jenkins Logan Perkins b. 1809 m. Fannie Carpenter HARDIN C. PERKINS (mine) b. 1811 d. 1887 m. Catherine Dorsey daughter of John H. Dorsey. Nancy Ann Perkins b. 1815 m. William Potts Sophia Perkins b. 1816 Lecce Perkins b. 1818 m. Floyd S. Hudgins Mary Perkins b. 1820 There may have been one more daughter. William probably migrated into SC and possibly GA. Many of his descendants went to AL and then to TX. Hardin C. Perkins was in Dahlonega , Lumpkin Co. GA between 1838 and 1840. He then found in Tuscaloosa Co. AL in the 1840 and 1850 Census, in Angelina Co. TX 1860 and in Henderson Co. TX 1870. Its been awhile since I posted who I seek.Hopefully there are some new members who might see something familiar in the following names...... Seeking the parents of: John C. Perkins b.1796 (VT) who married "some place" in New York State, probably about 1822 or 1823 to Hannah Russell b.(NY), dau. of Absalom Russell. 1st child was born in New York in 1824/25 (Rowena Perkins) 2nd child was born in Susquehanna,PA in 1827 (William H. Perkins) 3rd child was born in Erie,PA 1830 (Charles R. Perkins) 4th child was born in PA 1834 (Annie P. Perkins) 5th child was born either in MI or OH 1836 (Mary Perkins) By 1840 this family is in Napoleon, Jackson Co., MI and he is listed as ....... "J.C. Perkins" on the Fed. Census, His family consisted of his wife and all children listed above, plus a "Female" between the age of 55-60 or maybe 60-65. By 1850 John C. Perkins was dead (d.1842) and Hannah (Russell) Perkins was remarried to John Crego ,and all the "Perkins" children were farmed out to different households in the Jackson Co., MI area. With the oldest child (Rowena) being married to Christopher Purchase just prior to her fathers death and her siblings, William & Mary Perkins are living with her and her husband. Charles R. Perkins lived with the family of John Locke Butterfield , and Annie P. Perkins has not been found on the census but her marriage certificate of 1851 stated she lived in Columbia,Jackson Co., MI. I am trying to put together the Parrish/Perkins connection in Henrico/Goodland Va from 1650 thru 1750. Nicholas Perkins b 1614 had a dau who married and Parrish (will). I have an ancestor Elizabeth Perkins b 1726 who married William Parrish b 1724 m 1743. All Goochland. This William Parrish had a great Uncle who came to the Henrico/Goochland area from Anne Arundel Co MD in the early 1700s. Is there any Perkins researchers out there interested in this place and time frame? Any info? Denell

Hi all well, this has really been a very productive four days. Not so much as to what I have added to my urgently desired mother's paternal data but in that I started with a brief mention of an individual, and now have him linked to the RUGGLES ancestry, have his family and personal vitals, know where he is resting, have written accounts by his commanding officer(s) of his personal conduct, and have a copy of the last letter he wrote to his father in Oct before his death in Dec. I now have some more general ???ions that will be of interest to others as well: Col. Henry H. Baker wrote "Battle of Fredricksburg" pub in New Orleans in 1911. In it he describes the death of Francis RUGGLES. Does anyone have this text?? There was a periodical "the Confederate Veteran" which was pub in Tenn for scores of years which has articles of great personal interest to descendents of the Confederate cause. most larger research libraries seem to have a set. Is there a like periodical for the Union cause?? Surely there must be. Perhaps one is related to the GAR?? I did take some time and copied the RUGGLES participants from the Confederacy and also from some of the other states, mostly New England. I will be gradually posting them to the RUGGLES list. I hope that yall can help connect them to our growing ancestral tree. (for you PERKINS searchers out there, good luck. Richard H. Harrison, born April 03, 1786 in Richland, South Carolina; died August 03, 1829 in Greensboro, Alabama (Hale County). He was the son of James Harrison and Elizabeth Hampton. He married Catherine Sloan. Catherine Sloan, born February 22, 1788 in Greensboro, Alabama (Hale County); died May 03, 1859 in Greensboro, Alabama (Hale County). She was the daughter of William Sloan and Mary Perkins. I believe the SLOANS came to Old Pendleton District, SC from Ireland. I have quite a bit of information on the HARRISON and HAMPTON families, as they are a very well documented bunch. I have a little more history on the SLOANS, including descendents, but no ancestors. I have nothing further on Polly PERKINS, except she did marry a second time and is buried in Greensboro, AL. I am looking for anyone who has PERKINS connected or not, that were living in the NYC area 1880's to present my ancestor imm to NY, NY abt 1870's from N Ireland and as yet I can find not one connection with anyone on the internet and it is strange as it is a VERY large group. Almost every generation had 8-10 children and 8-10 grandchildren from each child. At this time there should be 4-6 thousand descendents running about. This line also founded PERKINS trucking. NY company. Not the one in Mass or Ohio. There were quite a few Perkins Trucking Companies founded at the end of the 1800's. Hi everyone. I am researching my WISE and MAY families.These lines are very hard to trace because my grandfather Arthur Horace WISE, and some of his siblings, were not registered under the WISE name. Arthur's mother, Alice Mary MAY was not married to Robert WISE....in fact, Robert had many children who were born throughout Melbourne. To save a scandal, all Alice's children were registered in the name of PERKINS, which was her married name (she was originally married to Charles PERKINS) and whom she never divorced. Arthur was born in 1902 at Hoddle Street, Collingwood, Melbourne, VIC. Australia and was a famous jockey during the 1920s, coming third in the 1920 Melbourne Cup on 'Queen Comedy'. He resided earlier in Caulfield when he married my grandmother Gwendolyn Vernon Manning DAVIS from Melton Victoria, living later in St. Kilda, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Arthur and Gwen spent some years caretaking a Bacchus Marsh hotel which had been a MANNING concern for years (my grandmother's mother's maiden name was MANNING). Both the MANNING and DAVIS families bred and trained racehorses. That is how my grandmother met my grandfather.Any info on any of these names would be appreciated. Thankyou. Kindest Regards. One of 15 children, Earnest had a brother Ezekiel married Mattie Felton. a brother Obadiah, married Mollie Felton. Two sisters Thursey and Thaney. Earnest's Parents both died when he was a boy and he was raided by his sister Thursey. The family moved to Alabama. then to Arkansas. Hi all since someone else started a PERKINS in the WBTS I am seeking anyone with ancestral veterans who participated in the evacuation of New Orleans, staging at Corinth, battle of Shiloh, or the holding action on that Monday. does not have to be PERKINS. though none of my direct ancestors participated at Shiloh I had a g g uncle, Brig Gen Daniel RUGGLES, b Barre, Mass 1810, Grad USMA 1833, career USA officer, resigned spring 1861, appointed CSA, commanded 1st div (Louisiana Troops for the most part) under Bragg at Shiloh. I am looking for additional information concerning his personal life and command. The part that interests me most is that in his resignation from the USA he stated that he could no longer up hold his oath of allegiance to the government that had (in his opinion) usurped the rights of its citizens and had oversteped its bounds into the rights of the governments of the individual states. Yall might be interested in looking into the muster rolls of PERKINS who served in the Rev war on both sides (Loyalist or Militia/Continental) and there were probably some Brit Regulars of the family PERKINS I would be extremely interested in any of you who could connect to the PERKINS of the F & I War Colonial Militias or Reg Brit Army. I have read the muster rolls for Mass and Va and there are Perkins listed. My region of greatest interest is in the NY Champlain Valley engagements -- Crown Point, First Battle of Lake George and the construction of Ft Wm Henry, Carillion/Ft Ticonderoga, Canada. I saw listing for the book "Descendants of Edward Perkins New Haven Conn" on the internet. It was described as the original manuscript and the authors research notes.
