Powles, a long time area resident, entered into rest Sunday, July 4, 2004 in Orange County Residential Health Care Center, Goshen. He was 78. Son of the late William and Marion Powles, he was born March 9, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA. He was married to the late Rita Redmond Powles, who predeceased him in 1992. Mr. Powles proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He retired as a printer for the Evening News and was a self-employed landscaper. An avid outdoorsman, Harold served as past president for Black Rock Fish & Game Club; past president of Black Rock Bassbusters; was one of the first NYS Bow Hunter Education Instructors; was a champion archer; and loved bass fishing and bow hunting. He also served as past president of the printers union. Survivors include his four sons, William and his wife Karen of New Windsor; Harold and his wife Susan of New Windsor; Steven and his wife Kathy of Cornwall and Richard and his wife Susan of Wallkill; and four grandchildren, Kathryn "K.C.", William Jr., Steven and Dillon. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, July 7 at the Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Funeral service will be offered at 11:00 am on Thursday July 8 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.
