Hi All, I am a new to the list researching 3/4?members of my family who emigrated to Pittsburgh PA and California in the early 1900's I was delighted to receive information re- Peter Conway who was living in Allegheny PA with his family [1930] The info. i received stated that his details were on the Ellis Island Data Base 1892-1920. I am a member of the above foundation but could not find any reference on how to retrieve/access any of this info., am i on the wrong track? Apart from using /browsing various message boards + the IGI/Mormon data, i am unfamiliar on how to continue with my research in the U.S.A. with regard to this matter I would be very grateful for any help I must say i was very impressed by the prompt reply i received, and if the above Peter Conway is ours!! wow what a bonus Regards Jean [in the U.K.]
Do you already have Peter Conway in the 1930 Census? I checked and there are 21 Peter Conways in PA in that year, only two in Allegheny, but one says he's born in PA and one says he's born in Scotland. If you don't have him in this year yet, I could look at some of them for you but would need an approximate age for him and his wife's name as well if you know it (if he was married). Also, if he died in PA, you could obtain his death record and find his parents' names listed on there, if you don't already know this information.
