I'm especially interested in learning the parents and siblings of Jacob's father, John Martin, and of Jacob's mother, Susanna (Ourie/Urey). John Martin was born about 1774 in "Little York" county, PA. He died about 1847, probably in Licking Co., OH. Susanna was born about 1777, possibly in PA and died about 1818 in PA or OH. John Martin remarried to Margaret Messencope on 11 Feb 1819 in Belmont Co., OH. SAMUEL MARTIN was born on 1 Apr 1799. He was the son of John and Susanna (Ourie/Urey) Martin. John was born about 1774 in "Little" York Co., PA and died about 1847, probably in Licking Co., OH. Susanna was born about 1777, probably in PA and died about 1818 in PA or OH. John Martin remarried to Margaret Messencope on 11 Feb 1819 in Belmont Co., OH. Samuel was baptized on 30 Aug 1800 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran, York, York Co., PA. He married Susannah Worley, daughter of Thomas M. and and Mary (Walker) Worley , on 15 Aug 1822 at Harrison Co., OH. Sam died on 5 Feb 1873 at Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH, at age 73. He was buried about 7 Feb 1873 at Cadiz Union Cemetery, Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH. Samuel Martin was recorded in the census in 1830 at Athens Twp., Harrison Co., OH; again in the census in 1840 at Short Creek Twp., Harrison Co., OH and in the census on 13 Aug 1850 at Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH. Alo in Cadiz Twp. at this time was the family of Arthur and Margaret (URIE) Martin who had migrated from Lancaster Co., PA. Samuel and Susannah Martin released to Sam's half-brother, Benjamin Martin, their "...title, interest and estate..." in the estate of Sam's father, John Martin. Samuel is listed in the final settlement of John Martin's estate, 3 July 1858 and other proceedings beginning July, 1853. These are recorded in the Partition records, Vol. D, pages 354-361; Vol F; and other volumes of the Licking Co. OH Clerk of Court, Courthouse, Newark, OH. Samuel Martin was recorded in the census on 1 Jun 1860 and 4 Jun 1870 at Cadiz Twp., Cadiz Town, Harrison Co., OH. On 5 Feb 1873, a Samuel Martin died in Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH at 73 years of age. He was buried in Cadiz Union Cemetery. She appeared on the census of 4 Jun 1870 in the household of Samuel1799 Martin at Cadiz Twp., Cadiz P.O., Harrison, OH. Mary appeared on the census of 16 Jun 1880 in the household of her mother Susannah Worley at Cadiz Twp., Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH. No record of a marriage for her was found. She died after 1880 at prob Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH. Mary A. Martin was not identified in the census of 1900. iii. JOHN was born in 1831 at prob Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH. He appeared on the census of 1840 in the household of Samuel1799 Martin at Short Creek Twp., Harrison Co., OH and appeared on the census of 13 Aug 1850 in the household of Samuel Martin at Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH. He died after 13 Aug 1850. iv. MARGARETTA was born in 1833 at prob Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH. She appeared on the census of 13 Aug 1850 in the household of Samuel Martin at Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH. Margaretta was recorded in the census on 2 Jun 1860 and the census of 1 Jun 1870 at Cadiz Town, Harrison Co., OH. She was recorded in the census on 12 Jun 1880, still single, at Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH. She was not identified in the 1900 Census. She died after 12 Jun 1880, probably at Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH. v. JAMES was born in 1834 at prob Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH. He still appeared on the census of 4 Jun 1870 in the household of Samuel1799 Martin at Cadiz Twp., Cadiz P.O., Harrison, OH. He appeared on the census of 16 Jun 1880 in the household of Susannah Worley at Cadiz Twp., Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH. He died after 16 Jun 1880 probably in Ohio. James was not identified in the 1900 census of OH. vi. ELIZABETH was born in May 1835 probably in Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH. She appeared on the censuses of 13 Aug 1850, 1 Jun 1860 and 1 Jun 1870 in the household of Samuel Martin at Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH. After her father died in 1873, she appeared on the census of 16 Jun 1880 and 14 Jun 1900 in the household of her mother Susannah at Cadiz Twp., Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH. Apparently, Elizabeth did not marry. Elizabeth Martin and her sister Susan were recorded living together in the Census on 25 Apr 1910 at Cadiz Village, Harrison Co., OH. She died on 2 Mar 1911 probably in Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH, at age 75. She was buried circa 5 Mar 1911 at Union Cemetery, Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH. vii. DANIEL was born circa 1839 probably in Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH. He married Mary Worley circa 1865. He appeared on the census of 1840 in the household of Samuel Martin at Short Creek Twp., Harrison Co., OH and on the census of 13 Aug 1850 and 1 Jun 1860 in the household of Samuel Martin at Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH. By the 1870 census, Daniel and Mary had married and were recorded in the household of Dan's father Samuel Martin at Cadiz Twp., Cadiz Town, Harrison Co., OH. Daniel and Mary Martin were recorded in their own home for the census on 21 Jun 1880 at Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH. Daniel died after 21 Jun 1880 probably in Harrison Co., OH. viii. SUSAN was born in Apr 1840 probably in Short Creek Twp., Harrison Co., OH. She appeared on the census of 4 Jun 1870 in the household of her parents at Cadiz Twp., Cadiz P.O., Harrison, OH. Following her father's death in 1873 she appeared on the census of 16 Jun 1880 in the household of her mother Susannah at Cadiz Twp., Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH. Susan was recorded in the census on 14 Jun 1900 at Cadiz Twp., Cadiz Village, Harrison Co., OH and appeared on the census of 25 Apr 1910 in the household of her older sister Elizabeth Martin at Cadiz Village, Harrison Co., OH. Apparently, neither sister married. Susan died circa 20 Feb 1920 at Cadiz Twp., Harrison Co., OH. She was buried on 23 Feb 1920 at Cadiz Union Cem., Cadiz, Harrison Co., OH.
