Found in Quad City Times Davenport, IA. Nov. 27, 2004 Two men unearthed a tombstone in Dubuque, IA. for Salmon Wheeler died April 1, 1874. Funeral notice of April 5, 1874, in the Dubuque Daily Times lists Wheeler was born in Va. He moved to Red Wing, Minn. and then to Dubuque. Moved back to Red Wing about five years before death, but he was buried at Dubuque at his request. Linwood Cemetery was place of burial and no one knows how tombstone wound up buried on Jorja Moore property. Marker weighed about 500 pounds. Hopes this helps someone.
