I remember people with AOL were having problems recently but I've never had this problem? ---- No...this would imply that the message/digest was delivered to your ISP and for some reason they do not still have it available for you to read. I've seen this on AOL also--and usually the message later reappears in the new mail inbox again, but I can't speak for Earthlink and how they might handle this.
