Ernie- I think it was someone responding to you who asked if there was anyone with info about William Smith and his connection to a college. I was reading a biography of Benjamin Franklin today and found a very brief reference to William Smith, a minister from Scotland whom Franklin had befriended, who was made provost of the fledgling college-the first non-sectarian college in America in 1751- which became the present University of Pennsylvania.
