Thanks to the one response, from 'Grafhaus' 1982, I got to my request for evidence that a distant relation had actually made some mark in PA, I was pleased and thankful to learn of the evidence he/she had unearthed. . I subsequently found an item about George on page 75 of 'History of Chester County 1881 - Gilbert Cope. It seems that George was ordered to pay a Richard Crosby £18 for compensation for an unnamed offence against him. This fine was imposed by The Peace makers. I did not find out know whether he actually paid it - I reckon this would be about half a million pounds in today's money and as far as I can see Mr Crosby did not leave a fortune in his will so he either spent the cash or never got it. As a possible 'heir' to George's probable non payment, a smart lawyer for the Crosby's heirs may seek settlement from me and my siblings! Any more sightings will be gratefully received.
