    1. Re: [PA] Owego
    2. Jacqueline I am not sure if it was actually considered PA or not .,It would probably take a lot of digging to see where all the boundry lines were drawn over the years. However the name Owego changed location a few times. The town was first settled around 1786. The "Original Town of Owego" was created at the time Tioga County was formed in 1791. This original town was reduced by formation of later towns in the county. Confusion as to the location of the Village of Owego caused the Town of Owego and the Town of Tioga to switch names in 1813 so that Owego village was in the same-named town. There also were disputes about boundries in that particualr area and a number of different boundy maps were drawn up over theyears. At one point Owego was in Indian territory.I have not seen it said that it was part of PA but don't hold me to that. I know even where I live today in Oregon we call the entire area we live in by the main town's name so when someone asks where do you live we give the post office name of the town and not the name of the area we live in 16 miles from it. Hard to say how the military at that time would look at it since Pa is right on the border of Owego. Kassie. **************Wondering what's for Dinner Tonight?
