I am trying to trace the Picken family. I've traced the family back to John Picken born 1784 died 22 Mar 1835 in the Alexandria, Virginia -Washington DC area. His spouse was Henrietta HARRISON, who was born 13 Mar 1789 and died 9 Jan 1875. Their children were Betty, Henrietta, James Harrison, Mary E, and Maryn. If a the Picken family migrated from Pennsylvania to South Carolina - a branch settling in Virgina would definitely be a possibility Paula Lewis Picken
Dear Paula, I'm not an expert on the Pickens family however I know the following. General Andrew Pickens was born in Faxton or Paxton, PA in Bucks Co., PA. His family moved and resided in old Augusta County, VA for some time. They then moved before the Revolutionary War to the Waxhaws (Lancaster Co., SC) in SC. After the RW General Andrew Pickens built a home called Hopewell (1784/5) in what is now Clemson University property where he lived for a time before moving again to Tamassee where he died. God Bless.
