    2. Thanks, Herb. That is what we needed to know so that your message would be of interest to our list members. Joan In a message dated 5/26/2008 9:49:12 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, herb_316@bellsouth.net writes: Dear Joan, General Andrew Pickens was born in Paxton or Faxton, Pennsylvania (so says a letter he wrote shortly before he died to some notable person - would have to look it up). >From Wikipedia Andrew Pickens (September 13, 1739 - August 11, 1817) was a militia leader in the American Revolution and a member of the United States House of Representatives from South Carolina. Pickens was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, the son of Scots-Irish immigrants, Andrew Pickens, Sr. and Anne (nee Davis). His great-grandmother however was Esther-Jeanne Bonneau of South Carolina and La Rochelle, France [1]. >From there his family moved to Old Augusta Co., VA. From there to the Waxhaws in SC. After the Rev. War he received the land on which Hopewell stands as part payment for his services in the RW. Built a home there, etc. Any further question e-mail me. God Bless.
