No I don't. Obviously Minnie was married and in Federalsburg in the 1900 census, but I don't know about John, Martha, or any others. At one point the family had been in NJ, so I don't know if they went back there at that time or not. Kari Farnell ----- Original Message ----- From: "D. Diane- You might have better luck getting a knowledgeable answer to this question on a list devoted to preservation. You could serve for a list here: http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ If you can't find a list devoted specifically to this topic I would bet someone on ROOTS-L would have good tips for you. FamilySerachLabs has now gone live with the 1870 Federal Census. I wrote about it at: http://blog.genealogybank.com/2008/07/1870-census-now-online.html That site now has the 1850; 1860; 1870; 1880 and 1900 census indexed and available online. These indexes are free. These are All New Indexes and Images. I was using the various online census indexes to search for some of my relatives. There was a dark blotch on the page and it was difficult to make out the name. So, I went to the 1900 Census Index at FamilySerachLabs and was very surprised to see that the same image on this page was crystal clear - no blotch. Why - I asked? Answer - FamilySerachLabs made the extra effort to create all new digital images of the census pages. The 1870 census is available in two formats: Indexed and Searchable - search every name in the census for these States: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Dakota Territory, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Idaho, Maine, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Utah. Browsable - lets you look at the digital images of each page in the census for All States except Kentucky, Vermont and Virginia. FamilySearchLabs will be putting the rest of these census images & indexes online shortly.
Hi, Kari: You're quite welcome. According to the township map at http://www.buckscounty.org/ government/municipalities/Municipalities.aspx Nockamixon Twp. is immediately north of Tinicum Twp. The map at http://www.buckscountypahog.org/bucksmap.html shows Upper Black Eddy just below Ringing Rocks Park (on the right side of the map, 3rd block down) and Erwinna is just below Tinicum Park (right side of map, 4th block down). Unfortunately, I'm not spotting a key to determine distance... Do you know where John Shick & family were living during the 1900 census? A web message received today leads me to believe perhaps your organization may be of help with our Crawford County Historical Society's desire to digitize our county newspaper holdings -- some microfilmed and some original issues, from 1805 on. If so, or if not and you have some information on where such help may be available, I shall apprdciate hearing from you. Thank You Thomas K. Diane, Call the PA State Archives in West Chester, PA I am sure they have the means to help. I know Maryland has the means to preserve these types of articles. Yes, These appear to be the right ones. Thanks so much. Do you know much about the PO names in these censuses? I'm wondering if they are the same area, but with different names, or if they actually moved that much between 1860-1880. My husband is related to the Shick family through Suzanna Shick who married into the Himes family. I have the following but it might not be the one you are researching. Tobias Shick born 17 May 1784 in Springfield Township, Bucks Co., PA. He married Maria Backman. His son was David who married Sara Himes. His son was William Turney who married Jennie Rebecca Reddinger. They had a daughter named Minnie Viola. This was shared with me from a Shick researcher. A check of History of Bucks County Pennsylvania, edited by J. H. Battle (The Reprint Company Publishers, Spartanburg, South Carolina, 1985, page 1057), shows three Shicks living in the area of Quakertown. Though there is no Minnie, John or Martha, perhaps you may be able to find a connection here. The reference reads as follows: "Reverend J. F. Ohl, pastor of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O. Quakertown, was born June 26, 1850, in Cherryville, Northampton County, Pa, and is the son of Milton Ohl and his wife, Mary Elizabeth, a daughter of Alexander and Rebecca Shick.... That is all that is listed in connection with the last name Shick. Good luck with your search!
