Was this all the information given at this time. ? Would it have given the parents names and witness's. would it have given the marital status of the Bride and Groom. 3. Hi, Muriel The information on the certificate seems to vary from place to place and time to time. I was lucky enough to get my husband's grandparent's wedding certificate from NYC in 1927, and it had their parent's names, place of origin, where the ceremony was performed, and who performed it, as well as the fact that neither had been married before, and who witnessed the ceremony. My own marriage license in NYC in 1982 had only our names, the judge who performed the ceremony, and one witness. Do you know the church where they were married? You could call or write them, and get more information. If you want me to call them (it doesn't cost me anything) let me know and I will get the information for you. 1. Re: [PA] Lists for Phila.
    2. Yes--unfortunately there were just too many unsubs all at one time for most list admins to contact those who had bounced off lists. It is always a good course of action, if you think you are not getting mail from lists you subscribe to (the mail suddenly stops arriving) to check that list's archives to be sure you are missing mail and then to check MyAccount at RootsWeb (the sign in link at the top right of any RootsWeb page) or PasswordCentral (passwords tab at the top of any RootsWeb page) to be certain you are still subbed to all of your lists--if not either resub or contact the list admin to see if you bounced off. If the problem continues after you resub--then it is time to check with your ISP to see if they are blocking the list mail as spam--which was the case here. 1. [PA] YESTERDAYS UPDATED
    2. mike spencer
    3. Hi list, for those with English ancestry the Yesterdays site now contains thousands of names of folks who are recorded on official documents found in the County of Derbyshire. These people are listed on Settlement Examinations, documents that give a "resume" of that persons life as the Justices try to determine where the examinant is legally settled. Many came from outside Derbyshire. Bastardy documents speak for themselves as mothers name the alleged fathers of their children. Removal orders record just where a person who had fallen on hard times was removed to. A parish in which an incomer had become a financial burden could and did have them removed. Again these people were removed all over the UK. Rogues and vagabonds aplenty. Again from all over Britain, and all "punished according to law" whipped that is, before being sent back through the various towns. Apprenticeship documents and a fair section on Law and Order also record many names of people from across England. Link below. One not yet listed and only recently discovered is an Examination of William STRETON born Philadelphia around 1758. His father was a soldier in the 42 Rgt Foot. William later went to Scotland, became a sailor was taken prisoner before being sent to Falmouth in England. He was about nineteen at the time. -- http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~spire/Yesterday/index.htm

    1. Re: [PA] 1900, Venango Twp., Butler Co., Elias Taylor
    2. I would like to thank you for this information. I greatly appreciate it. The reason I was searching for the birthplace of Barbara's Father is because her two brothers Henry and David Montgomery their census records and their death certificates are conflicting. One of their birth certificates say that the father was born in New York State and One of the Census Records says that the Father was born in New York. But the rest of the census records says that the father was born in Pa and the other death certificate says that the father was born in PA. So I was hoping that with Barbara being the oldest of the three that her census records might give me more of a clue where to search. However, I don't think that is going to be the case. Hopefully, I can find her exact death date and then I can order her death certificate and maybe that will help. Thank You again for the information I greatly appreciate it. 1. [PA] Phillip Kress/Michael Pitzer/Bitzer
    2. Nena Smothers
    3. Looking for any leads of Philip Cress/Kress parents in PA. Any links to try would be helpful. a desc of his has matched up 36/37 to a Daniel Grass desc that was born in Pa and went to Ind, indicates a solid relationship, whether brothers or lst cousins is unk at this time. Philip eventually returns to Pa later indicating probable family there which we can't find. No will is found but administration records were found. Daniel's family obviously in Pa as he was born there 1774 then he arrives in KY before 1800, marries and has 7 children. All stayed in that area. Can't get further back on Daniel either except by stories told of his family that can not be documented. Last names will vary as will the last name of Nancy and her parents. Philip had 2 children who married siblings Kirkpatrick. Anyone have or run across any of this family or have a Pa site we haven't tried or a ship's list please post, have more info just posted a bit so to show a picture...glad to share, thanks kindly. [info here is fr the desc of Philip that matches to Grass] 1780 – Philip born (per cemetery record and obit) in VA (per census of George Cress, his son) 1808 – Married Aug 8 Nancy Pitzer, dau of Michael Bitzer and Sophia Scharlotte Boshaar. Marriage Bond (have copy) signature indicates (per BB) Philip was 3rd or 4th generation German educated in communal schools ? per a certified genealogist researcher analysing signature 1811 – Philip named in Michael Bitzer’s Will, signed 18 Aug: (have copy) “The tract where Philip Cess, George Anderson & widow Davis lives on” (does not note any relationship); Nancy named in will and was to receive $250; this is last time Nancy is found by name 1811-1812 - Catherine, b 1811-1812 Berkeley, m Thomas Kirkpatrick Jr. 1813 – George born, based on tombstone inscription – if 1813 is correct, and if the male
